Machinist - Mill/Turn

Department:Production Reports To:Supervisor FLSA Status:Non-Exempt (Hourly) Job Summary Owens Machine and Tool, LLC is an Aerospace and Defense machine parts manufacturer in Lewisville, Texas specializing in precision components and assemblies. We are seeking a mill/turn machinist. Qualified applicants will have a background in complex machining and tight tolerances. We work in a climate-controlled facility with state-of-the-art Integrex machines mill/turn machines. Our first shift operates from 0600 to 1630 Monday through Thursday. This is a full-time position. Owens operates in accordance with ITAR regulations as administered by U.S. State Department. All employees must be US persons as defined by ITAR. Supervisory Responsibilities: • None. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Set-up and operate CNC Mazak or Okuma mills and lathes. • · Inspect completed work for conformance to drawings and specs using a variety of measuring tools including calipers, micrometers, radius pins, thread gages and height gages. • · Evaluate and reduce set-up and run time through process improvement. • · Monitor machines, change tools, deburr parts and record data on production travelers. • · Accurately complete job paperwork and part documentation. • · Identify machining issues, coordinate with support staff and make adjustments when warranted. REQUIREMENTS: • ·A minimum of 5 years’ relevant aerospace machine shop experience.· Requires expert-level proficiency in machining and metrology. • Solid understanding of A&D drawings and GD&T tolerancing. • Demonstrate interpersonal skills applicable to small team dynamics. • Experience with Mazak and Okuma interfaces is a plus, as is the ability to program in Mazatrol. Mazatrol Smott Specific Knowledge/Skills • In-depth understanding of machining processes, especially Mazak Integrex mill / turn machines. • Strong knowledge of CNC and conventional machining, fixturing, and tooling. • Strong written and oral communication skills. • Flexibility to work overtime or extended hours when needed to meet schedule. • Basic shop math skills, ability to read prints and repair fixtures. • Knowledge of cutting tools and machining techniques. Physical Demands • This position is in a climate controlled environment. • Prolonged periods of standing and walking. • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times. • Regularly lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 50 pounds.
