Job Profile:

H&W is seeking a Mainframe Development Manager, with extensive experience and deep knowledge of the IBM mainframe environment. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for leading and managing a small team of geographically dispersed mainframe developers, delegating responsibilities, and managing workflows, as well as driving product road mapping. You will be an active participant in the leadership of the company, participating in strategic business planning, disaster recovery, product decisions, etc. In addition, you will be responsible for creating a knowledge sharing environment between your team your team members with the goal of building a stronger, more diverse knowledge pool.

Looking for Software Developers/Engineers with knowledge of the internal workings of the Operating System (z/OS) and the programming language (Assembler/HLASM) used to interact with it.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and inspire mainframe developers to achieve project goals and deliver high-quality solutions.
• Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture, encouraging continuous learning and professional development.
• Stay abreast of current and emerging mainframe technologies.
• Research new technologies for possible integration with products
• Implement best practices for code review, testing, and debugging to maintain the highest standards of quality in mainframe development.
• Review and maintain comprehensive documentation for mainframe applications, including technical specifications, coding standards, and deployment procedures.
• Ensure clear and complete documentation of support incidents in the CRM system.
• Serve as an escalation point for customer support incidents.
• Onboard new employees, including training plans and skill assessments.
• Plan, coordinate, and monitor development activities.
• Manage acquisition and licensing of infrastructure hardware and software.

Qualifications

• Experience (8+ years) in a mainframe applications development environment as a manager, supervisor or team leader.
• Familiarity with z/OS mainframe infrastructure.
• In-depth knowledge of z/OS internals, VSAM, CICS, VTAM and/or IBM assembler language a plus.
• Strong leadership and project management skills with a track record of delivering complex development

projects.

• Effective communicator with a history of leading in-person and geographically dispersed teams.
• Excellent problem solving and organizational skills.
• Self motivated, ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects.
