JOB FAMILY DESCRIPTION

Provides mainframe enterprise storage and backup support functions to ensure customers realize optimum system performance and availability. Performs mainframe storage administration for the enterprise.

GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Completes z/OS backup and recovery, data migration, storage allocation, connectivity, and storage reporting requests.
• Performs storage administration utilizing standard mainframe tools including DFSMS and REXX.
• Works with senior peers to develop change management procedures.
• Creates and maintains documentation in Sharepoint and MS Office.
• Creates investment proposals and presents concepts during team meetings.
• Provides assistance with system solution design.
• Will require rotating 24x7 on-call support responsibility as well as weekend support.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL GUIDELINES

Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience.

GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Skilled in mainframe (z/OS) storage administration
• Knowledgeable in DFSMS and DFHSM
• Skilled in programming in REXX or other languages strongly desired
• Experience with IBM DS8xxx and IBM TS77xx a plus
• Experience with CA Storage Management Products a plus
• Effective communication and team skills with an ability to cooperate, present to and participate with peers/team members
• Basic knowledge of operating systems and systems administration concepts
• Demonstrated ability to learn new concepts and technologies as well as a personal commitment to stay current with latest technology concepts
• Good problem-solving, analytical and critical thinking skills
• Identifies and resolves less clearly defined problems using established procedures and/or protocols as guidelines

Storage Administrator II

Intermediate professional role requiring moderate skills with a high level of proficiency. Works independently with only administrative supervision, displaying independent judgment with the ability to overcome moderate obstacles and recognize early when issues should be escalated or a senior peer needs to be consulted. Consults senior peers on projects with the goal of continually building knowledge/experience while minimizing any risk to projects. Provides communication on issues or complex information to a wider audience after consultation with management or senior peers. Contributes to the development, documentation and implementation of change management procedures.

Typically requires a minimum of five (5) years of experience in computer science or related technical field.
