Job Description:

We are GDIT. The people supporting and securing some of the most complex government, defense, and intelligence projects across the country. We are currently seeking a Mainframe Storage Lead for our government client.

Responsibilities:

Primary administrator for storage tools DFSMS and DFHSM.

Maintaining all mainframe storage policies

Monitor and adjust allocation to proactively avoid storage issues and impact to the system operation.

Monitor system performance and tune the system for optimal I/O performance.

Implement mainframe backup and recovery strategies to protect the business data for both onsite and disaster recovery.

Responsible for the installation and maintenance of storage and performance related products.

Monitor system performance and tune the system for optimal I/O performance.

Responsible for the installation and maintenance of storage and performance related products.

Monitor and manage storage devices, virtual tape libraries, and backup systems.

Perform routine maintenance tasks, including storage allocation, capacity planning, and performance tuning.

Identify and resolve storage-related issues, including bottlenecks and data loss prevention.

Document storage infrastructure, procedures, and processes for knowledge sharing.

Responsible for the installation and maintenance of storage and performance related products.

Requirements:

Candidates should have 10+ years of experience with expertise in the skills/duties listed below:

Storage tools DFSMS and DFHSM.

Proficiency in support of all data set types (VSAM, Libraries/PDSEs, Sequential, USS/zFS) and access methods

Monitoring system performance and tuning the system for optimal I/O performance.

Implementing mainframe backup and recovery strategies to protect the business data for both onsite and disaster recovery.

Strong understanding of mainframe backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures

Proficient in mainframe storage management tools, such as ISMF, ICKDSF, IDCAMS, ABARS, FDRABR, FDR Instant Copy, DFDSS, FDReport, DCOLLECT, and others

Experience with managing ICF Catalogs

Experience with Rocket Software Catalog Recovery Plus

Proficiency with Broadcom tools such as CA-1, SYSVIEW, and others.

Strong JCL skills

Scripting capabilities (i.e. REXX, CLISTs, SAS) for generating Jobs and/or Control Cards

Solid experience with storage replication technologies, such as Global Mirror, Metro Mirror, and Flashcopy

Design, configure, and implement storage solutions for mainframe environments.

Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in mainframe storage management.

The likely salary range for this position is $116,000 - $174,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
