Mainframe zOS Systems Programmer (REMOTE)

Tech Firefly is partnering with a national financial services company to hire a Mainframe Systems Programmer to join the dynamic team. This is a remote position that offers an opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology solutions to solve unique challenges for our clients.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and perform system programming on Mainframe systems.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance Mainframe software applications.
• Analyze and troubleshoot Mainframe system problems and provide technical solutions.
• Install, test and validate Mainframe hardware and software upgrades.
• Evaluate system performance and capacity planning to ensure high system availability.
• Ensure system and compliance standards are adhered to.
• Provide technical expertise to support project teams in the development and delivery of Mainframe-based solutions.

Requirements

• Proven experience in SMPe to maintain, install, and customize the mainframe z/OS operating system environment for IBM and 3rd party software products.
• Installing program temporary fixes (PTFs)and supporting product exits.
• Creating IOCDS or IODF modifications for new hardware installations.
• Working knowledge and experience with IBM Hardware.
• Proven experience managing Coupling Facilities in Sysplex environments.
• Experience with GDPS software and data replication.
• Proven ability to diagnose complex issues and recommend solutions as needed.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products that include - Word and Excel. Excellent collaboration skills with internal as well as external team members.
• Follow all Change and Incident Management Procedures. Create the required technical documents that include software upgrade and backout processes.
• Must be able to work weeknights and weekend to implement changes.
• Provide On-Call support on rotation basis.
