This position is in Cargill’s protein and salt business, where we provide wholesome, high-quality food products to a wide range of customers, from foodservice operators and grocery stores to manufacturers and exporters.
Job Purpose and Impact
The Maintenance Mechanic will perform complex maintenance and troubleshooting on production or warehouse machinery with in depth knowledge of a trade or understanding of multiple trades performing under occasional guidance. In this role, you will utilize maintenance and reliability practices to complete preventative, predictive and reactive maintenance to ensure assets are maintained to ensure effectiveness of the facility.

Shift(s) Available:Day or evening 12h shift + 1.60/h shift differential
Compensation:$42.08/hr. + 1.60 shift differential

Key Accountabilities
• Utilize maintenance and reliability practices with little to no guidance to ensure all assets are maintained in safe condition while continuing to ensure the life of the equipment being used.
• Independently complete preventative, predictive and reactive industrial maintenance throughout the facility.
• Apply knowledge and ability to operate two or more standard maintenance tools such as power tools, basic hand tools, electric tools, precision maintenance tools and preventative maintenance technology tools.
• Apply an in depth understanding and experience of two or more maintenance trades and components (i.e. electrical, welding, pipefitting, fabrication, gearbox and bearing maintenance, lubrication, pumps and piping systems, mechanical maintenance and hydraulic and pneumatic systems).
• Modify equipment by reading either electrical or mechanical schematics, blueprints and operation manuals.
• Document completed work and the conditions found utilizing maintenance computer software interact regularly with peers and provide feedback to management to pursue continuous improvement of facility operations.

Qualifications
• Right to work in the U.S. that is not based solely on possession of a student visa or a visa sponsored by a third-party employer
• Cargill requires employees be a minimum of 18 years old to work in a production facility
• Ability to perform physical job duties which may include bending, lifting up to 50 lbs, kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting safely, with or without a reasonable accommodation
• Must be able to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions which may include heat, cold, dust, loud noise, etc.. with the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• Ability to understand and communicate in English (verbal/written)
• Basic use of a computer
• Ability to work overtime, weekends and holidays with advance notice
• Ability to work in elevated areas (4 feet and above)
• Other minimum qualifications may apply
• Have experience in mechanical maintenance
Preferred Qualifications:
• Forklift experience
• Experience with SAP or a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
• Certified Maintenance Reliability Technician (CMRT) or willing to acquire certification
• Industrial maintenance technical diploma from a trade school, or 3 years equivalent experience
• Predictive Maintenance and/or Precision Maintenance Certifications
• Experience troubleshooting and maintaining various components and systems such as but not limited to packaging equipment, hydraulic & pneumatic systems, belt or roller conveyors, pumps, gear reducers, or bearings
