About the Position:
This position is located in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, Ramey.

- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Requirement.
- Proof of U.S. Citizenship required.
- Direct deposit of pay is required.
- One year trial or probationary period may be required.
- Appointment subject to a suitability/fitness determination, as determined by a background investigation.
- This position requires a Tier 1 (T1) investigation with Childcare Checks since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age.
- A pre-placement medical examination is required.
- Must be able to possess a Chloro-Fluorocarbon (CFC) certificate for working with refrigerants
- Work may include assignment to first or second shift
- Call-back and emergency overtime may be required of this position.
- Must be able to operate a government vehicle within 45 days of the date of hire.
Qualifications
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor II without more than normal supervision. Reviewing work orders; distributing work to others; providing work status updates and maintaining air conditioning, heating/boiler, plumbing and/or electrical equipment - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
- Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading)
- Ability To Lead or Supervise
- Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment
- Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.
- Knowledge of Materials
- Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)
- Physical Effort: Work requires frequent bending, standing, stooping, and reaching. Work may be performed from ladders or scaffolding and in cramped and uncomfortable positions. Regularly required to lift and carry parts and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Lifting equipment is available for heavy loads.
- Working Conditions: Works inside and outside in all types of weather. Is exposed to the possibility of electrical shock, broken bones, bums, cuts, and bruises and to injury from inhaling refrigerants. Subject to falls from ladders and scaffolding and to injury from accidents while operating a motor vehicle.
