For This Role
We are looking for a Malware Reverse Engineer to join Moonlock - MacPaw's division that focuses on the cybersecurity needs of Mac users.

Moonlock is a small team that is spread across seven countries and includes a white-hat hacker and a former cybercrime investigator. Between specialists, they have 47 years of experience in cybersecurity.
You'll be part of a Moonlock Lab Team consisting of the Engineering Manager, five engineers, and, of course, yourself. But that's just the beginning! As our company continues to grow, so will our team.
In this role, you will:

• Analyse malware on macOS platform to create signatures/detecting rules and update malware database to provide up-to-date protection for users
• Maintain an extensive malware signature database, ensuring it is regularly updated with new and emerging threats, implement effective mechanisms for distributing these updates to our security products
• Communicate with the team during research process, utilize internal collaboration tools, collect and store IOC to be used in articles and other publications
• Help customer support to resolve user issues, conduct technical communication with customers if needed to maintain customer satisfaction, loyalty, and retention
• Monitor and analyse false-positive cases, develop strategies to eliminate them in the future to make detection more effective and precies

Skills you'll need to bring:

• Expertise in reverse engineering malware
• Proficiency with disassemblers, debuggers, and static/dynamic analysis tools
• Experience in creating malware detection signatures (YARA, file path regex, etc.)
• Knowledge of assembly language and one or more compiled languages (C, C++, Objective-C, Swift)
• Knowledge of Python, bash/sh

As a plus:

• User experience with macOS or Linux
• Understanding of macOS internals
• Experience with macOS malware
• Knowledge of Go, Rust
• Experience with threat intelligence platforms
• Knowledge of automation for analysis processes
• Familiarity with anti-detection and anti-reverse engineering techniques
• Previous work in a collaborative cybersecurity research environment
