Summary
This Position is placed in the Joint Staff J6, Directorate for Command, Control, Communications and Computers (C4), Cyber/ Joint Staff Chief Information Officer (CIO). Serves as the Senior Cyber Advisor providing expert analysis ensuring that senior leader decisions are risk informed by current threat intelligence, vulnerability analysis, and impact assessments.

- May be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays and/or overtime.
- May occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.

Applicant must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience must be reflected in your resume. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled.
Qualifying experience would be demonstrated by:
- Applying advanced management principles, concepts, laws, practices, to include expert knowledge of novel, emergent, and theoretical areas of leadership and C4 / cyber concepts and issues to develop/improve programs that are innovative and/or that have previously been resistant to solution;
- Utilizing qualitative and/or quantitative analytical and evaluative methods and techniques for the assessment and improvement of program effectiveness and the improvement of complex management processes and systems;
- Extracting information from questionable or incomplete data, validate analytical conclusions, and integrate contributions from other analysts and/or subject matter experts to prepare finished analytical products;
- Organizing and monitoring complicated technical projects, such as projects spanning DoD and Federal organizational boundaries to lead and perform technical planning functions;
- Applying public law, Executive Orders, Presidential Directives and Federal regulations governing intelligence subjects related to C4/cyber to coordinate issues related to threats to networks, and cyber operations
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
