Manager, 3D Software Engineering

By building the operating system for every dental office in America, Dandy is empowering dentists with technology, innovation, and world-class support to achieve more for their practice, their people, and their patients.

We are looking for an Engineering Manager with a strong understanding of 3D graphics application engineering, familiarity with CPU and GPU architectures and a deep sense of software craftsmanship to take on the responsibility of overseeing a new team of 3D engineers. This newly created team will partner directly with our current 3D team to improve our tooling and build new, state-of-the-art 3D systems in the browser. These two teams will play a pivotal role in the direction of Dandy Engineering over the next 12 months.

Our team will closely collaborate with stakeholders, product management and UX designers to turn groundbreaking ideas and technologies into shippable features.

What you’ll do

• Assemble, supervise and mentor the 3D engineering team - keeping them motivated to achieve high morale and retention

• Partner closely with the team’s product manager and senior CAD designers

• Work collaboratively with our AI team to build intelligent, automated solutions that will directly integrate with the 3D tools this team creates

• Support a culture of writing robust, high-performance code

• Work closely with many different products and teams across Dandy to integrate 3D tools

• Review engineering proposals and provide detailed, constructive feedback

What you’ll need to succeed

• 2+ years of experience managing teams with a minimum of five engineers

• 4+ years of experience as a 3D/CAD software engineer

• Experience building user facing applications leveraging common GUI concepts

• Knowledge of C++ design principles

• Experience with cross platform code - especially via WebGL

• Experience building web-based 3D tooling

• Familiarity with 3D rendering algorithms and procedures

• Experience working directly with recruiters to develop and drive the recruiting pipeline and processes (including interviewing)

• Strong communication skills and attention to detail

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience or education

• Experience in profiling, debugging, and testing complex systems

Bonus expertise welcomed

• JavaScript/TypeScript

• ReactJS

• Worked in a cloud-based environment (GCP, AWS, or Azure)

• Experience working directly with AI/ML teams

Compensation Range: $200K - $240K
