Manager, Accounting
Job Description
We are looking for a hands-on Manager, Accounting professional, to support in the management reporting and analysis of the organization. This is a hybrid position, required on-site (Industry City Brooklyn) 1 day per week on Wednesdays.
Primary Responsibilities, include:
- Plan, direct and coordinate accounting operations functions including preparing regular financial statements and reporting
- Oversee regulatory reporting including tax planning and compliance
- Report on overhead variance analysis from budget
- Provide monthly analysis and ensuring information is provided in a complete and timely manner to the relevant operational team members
- Review and prepare month-end balance sheet reconciliations
- Ensure proper controls over credit card expenses are implemented and followed, including being the administrator for Concur and ensuring proper coding
- Responsible for fixed asset and intangible asset management and accounting adjustments
- Oversee management of the GL (accruals, adjustments, maintenance)
- Assume responsibility for the implementation and maintenance of financial records, systems, and controls and follow best practices
- Work on ad hoc projects/requests from internal and external clients as necessary
- Assume responsibility for own environment, ensuring adherence to health and safety policies while having clean smart surroundings
- Work intelligently and ensure management is aware of problems or issues which negatively affect productivity
- Build excellent relationships with the team through positive communications
- Ensure knowledge is shared within the team to enable them to work smarter and more efficiently
- Coordinate the activities of external accounting vendors
- Evaluate accounting and internal control systems
- Support the annual external audit and assisting with year-end and audit reporting for our US , UK and HK offices
- Manage the month/quarter/annual accounting close cycle which includes review of contracts, approval of journal entries, oversight of balance sheet reconciliations and other accounting activities
- Assist in the development of policy manuals and standard operating procedures
- Identify automation opportunities and recommend process improvement opportunities
- Assist finance senior leadership with special projects such as implementation of new finance systems, policy rollouts and other activities
- Oversee, develop, train, and retain skilled accounting, accounts payable and finance staff
- Jointly oversee payroll payments across multiple locations/countries with payroll lead.
- Coordinate with payroll lead on withholdings and completing necessary reconciliations
- Assist regular payroll tax filings across multiple locations/countries
Qualifications/Ideal Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business accounting, or related field
- 4-5 years of proven accounting experience with at least 1 year of supervisory experience
- Professional accounting certification, including CPA or CMA
- Working knowledge of finance law and regulatory standards (GAAP)
- Strong understanding of economic and banking processes
- Experience running accounting and payroll functions in a corporate environment
- Experience working in a global company with international accounting
- Superb attention to detail
- Ability to wear multiple hats readily and effectively
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to produce clear, logical and concise products
- Superior organizational and solid time-management skills
- Professional presence
- Proficiency in Excel and experience with ADP and NetSuite (or similar financial/payroll systems)
Job Type: Full-time; Hybrid role; NYC based (Brooklyn office space)
Salary: $110,000 - $140,000 per year + Discretionary Bonus & Equity Eligible
