Job Description
As the Manager, Accounting, you will lead a team of accounting seniors and staff and oversee core accounting functions, including month-end close and day-to-day accounting operations. You'll continually drive improvements by assisting in the implementation of new financial systems, processes, and procedures. You'll also assist with financial reporting, internal controls, and complex technical accounting transactions. Due to the high level of collaboration required both internally and externally, the Manager, Accounting role is critical to the accounting team's success and ability to fully support Pie's long-term growth.
How You’ll Do It:- Manage team member workloads and responsibilities. Ensure adherence to deadlines while maintaining high quality work product and thorough documentation.
- Support, mentor, and coach your team. Provide continuous feedback and opportunities for career development.
- Own the monthly accounting close process under U.S. GAAP. Review journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analyses in accordance with internal company policy to support U.S. GAAP financial statements.
- Manage various operational accounting functions, including accounts payable, expense reporting, corporate credit cards, and treasury activities.
- Assist in developing and maintaining documentation of current accounting policies to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and footnotes.
- Support year-end financial statement audit and quarterly reviews.
- Partner with the finance team to analyze historical results and improve information quality.
- Participate in impactful initiatives and projects that drive efficiency in the accounting department with a heavy focus on process automation, system implementations and industry best practices.
- Assist with ad hoc projects and requests as needed.
- B.A./B.S. in Accounting or Finance from an accredited college or university is required
- 6-8 years of relevant experience, including 2-3 years at a Big 4/large regional accounting firm, is required
- Minimum of 2 years of people management experience is required
- Active CPA or currently pursuing certification is strongly preferred
- Solid proficiency in U.S. GAAP
- Ability to apply technical accounting knowledge to real-world business transactions
- Proven ability to identify, develop and implement process improvements
- Self-starter and self-motivated to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Organized, detail-oriented and deadline-driven
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional team members
- Strong communication skills of all types
- Strong Excel skills and ability to work with large data sets
Base compensation range for position: $120,000 - $165,000

Location InformationUnless otherwise specified, this role has the option to be hybrid or remote. Hybrid work locations provide team members with the flexibility of working partially from our Denver or DC office and from home.
