In this role, you will contribute to the design and lead the review of total rewards programs This role is responsible for hands-on management and effectively executing the Benefits, Disability, and Wellness, and other related total rewards programs. The successful candidate will possess a blend of strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail with a practical, solutions-oriented mindset and creative problem-solving.

• Regularly evaluate and maintain benefits, disability and wellness programs and make recommendations for strategic adjustments to program design to align to business needs.

• Prepare high-impact communications with the objective of sharing information and improving employee awareness of related programs.
• Manage the end-to-end annual benefits renewal, cost analysis, budgeting, and enrollment process.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of the non-occupational disability program and make recommendations for on-going leaves and accommodations process improvements and best practices.
• Manage projects related to the total rewards programs including development of educational campaigns, revising plan documents, beneficiary reviews, and wellness initiatives.

Relationship Management

• Act as subject matter expert to the HR team and business partners by providing expertise, coaching and assistance related to the benefits, disability, and wellness programs.
• Partner closely with the finance team on benefits budgeting, spend, cost analysis and reporting.
• Collaborate with external providers on proactive disability management and cost containment, while ensuring adequate levels of consultation, effectiveness, and service delivery.
• Partner with the Labour Relations team to provide on-going bargaining support, cost analysis and consultation.
• Resolve cases within scope of authority, while escalating complex cases to senior management as appropriate.
• Provide guidance and support to the team.

Plan Administration

• Lead analytical and administrative tasks related to benefits, disability and wellness programs including file feeds related to eligibility and contributions, taxable benefits, case tracking systems and reporting.
• Ensure program compliance with legislative requirements.
• Ensure effective training and tools are in place and reflect current programs and processes.
• Focus on process improvements that reduce cost and improve services.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive total rewards experience. Experience in a unionized environment is considered an asset.
• Exceptional attention to detail with a practical, solutions-oriented mindset and creative problem solving.
• Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical reasoning skills.
• Ability to exercise sound judgement, tact and decision making.
• Ability to build strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to lead, manage and motivate a team.
• Strong technical skills in the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with SAP is an asset.
