A Brief Overview
As a key member of Stanford Health Care Marketing Communication team, this role requires an experienced designer who will be responsible for brand stewardship, specifically providing direction, guidance, and education related to brand standards, visual identity, as well as establishing best practices for governance. They will develop design solutions that are compelling, memorable, and on brand, ensuring great design is at the forefront of all brand communications. Additionally, they will oversee production design work and provide strategic direction in order to advance the organization to its potential. This role requires creativity, a solutions-oriented mindset, as well as strong influencing and project management skills. The successful candidate will operate efficiently in a fast-paced environment, have a systematic approach, and be able to navigate around ambiguity.

What you will do
  • Provides direction and guidance related to brand standards and visual identity, both establishing and implementing best practices for governance.
  • Oversees design requests made to the Brand Team and determines resourcing strategies for effective and efficient delivery of services to the organization.
  • Partners with design agencies, Marketing team members, and other internal and external partners to support implementation of brand guidelines and maintains consistency across communications.
  • Serves as subject-matter expert and point of contact for review and guidance around the application of brand and campaign standards across a variety of materials.
  • Works on ad hoc marketing and communication projects to develop effective, brand-aligned design solutions, including building executive presentation material, sponsorship placements, promotional items, and more.
  • Stays current on trends and platforms, acting as a brand evangelist, leading curation of thought-leadership, inspiration, and best practices.
  • Develops and acquires images used in a variety of creative projects (corporate identity, packaging, presentations, promotional displays, signage, websites, etc.) and oversees the design, layout, and formatting of these materials.
  • Manages relationships with production design vendors, print vendors, and photographers, including evaluation and fostering of new vendor relationships.
  • Delivers consistent, high-quality results under tight deadlines while maintaining the engagement of contractors/vendors.
  • Directs the financial management of the production cycle including estimates, budgeting, and resource allocation for production design.
  • Presents on-brand and on-strategy creative solutions to BDDs and SHC Senior Leadership.


Education Qualifications
  • Bachelors' degree or equivalent in graphic arts/graphic design/fine arts, communications, or a related field from an accredited college or university


Experience Qualifications
  • Five years of graphic design experience. Studio experience preferred. Preferred
  • Two years of management or supervisory experience.


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Thorough understanding of design, processes including industry best practices as well as keeping current with color, typography, illustration, and phtography trends.
  • Must possess a strong sense of concept development, in addition to communication, collaboration, research, problem-solving and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite is required.
  • Exceptional presentation/speaking skills including presentation of creative concepts and selling direction to senior level clients.
