National Grid Ventures is hiring a Manager, Business Development. The hybrid role will be located in our Brooklyn, NY, Melville, NY or Albany, NY office. The successful candidate will be required to travel frequently within New York State and must reside within a one-hour commute to one of the above locations.
Job Purpose
The successful candidate will be responsible for building and managing relationships with stakeholders across New York State, in connection with setting and executing the Company's commercial strategy on its clean energy vision, projects and priorities.
The Strategic Development Manger is to support and execute engagement strategies for National Grid Ventures (NGV) by developing and leveraging relationships with a broad set of influential stakeholders. This is a business development role, with strong engagement strategy elements which works closely with corporate affairs.
Key Accountabilities• Support and execute engagement strategies for National Grid Ventures (NGV) by developing and leveraging relationships with a broad set of influential stakeholders.• Strategically position NGV to help projects progress on time and on budget. Work with internal National Grid representatives to ensure alignment on the company's broader strategic goals.• Closely collaborate with the corporate affairs, commercial, technical, labor, and legal teams during project development and construction to coordinate efforts and incorporate multi-dimensional aspects of the project into decision-making.• Represent NGV in our partnerships, and work with project partner representatives to ensure consistent messaging from our Joint Ventures.• Build on existing internal and external relationships to expedite decisions related to approvals, concessions, and other strategic actions that will overcome anticipated barriers to development.
Qualifications• Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree/study, such as M.A. or M.B.A. preferred• Experience working with wide range of internal and external stakeholders, particularly in New York, and a successful track record of influencing outcomes.• 5-10+ years of relevant experience, including 5+ years of experience working directly with stakeholders• Understanding of activities involved in building large-scale infrastructure projects• Ability to think strategically about positioning and demonstrated success in highly political situations• Strong leadership, collaboration and communication skills

Downstate NY: $143K- $173K a year
Upstate NY: $123K-145K a ye
This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
