The Scoop:

Manages and leads efforts to achieve the goals and objectives of a Business Solutions Team, including budget, productivity, and transaction quality. Responsible for managing the operation of the team ensuring adherence to proven best practices, development of staff through the career path process, alignment and support of the sales process including responding to RFPs, and achievement of performance standards and client performance guarantees. Champions service excellence and builds internal partnerships that optimize service capabilities for our customers. Matches appropriate technology solutions to business needs. Uses, and promotes the use of, process mapping and collaborative work simplification techniques. This position analyzes, plans, and sets corporate strategy and provides product and service management support for the development and enhancement of assigned products, services, and applications. Responsible for ongoing business ownership, maintenance support, and subject matter expertise, as well as strategic vendor management and contracting. Relies on experience, judgment, business applications & systems knowledge, and technical skill to plan and accomplish goals. Participates in conferences, workshops, and committees to ensure MedImpact is aligned with industry standards. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

  • Provides leadership to recruit, manage and retain the necessary resources to successfully perform the duties of the assigned work group(s)
  • Manages work group(s) to achieve service commitments, including sustainable, measurable, accurate, reliable, and timely execution of project deliverables
  • Provides day-to-day leadership and direction including developing and administering policies, business processes, quality standards, measurement criteria, and operating budgets
  • Sets high standards and encourages new ideas for improving organizational performance
  • Takes appropriate corrective action as needed to promote optimal employee performance and maintain low staff turnover
  • Develops and implements operating plans for enhancing the business and meeting strategic objectives
  • As member of Operations leadership, utilizes planning, prioritizing, and organizational skills to effectively develop and implement operations policy and business strategy
  • Manages the assets, tools, and processes necessary to achieve business objectives by leveraging analysis, evaluation, planning and organizational skills/tool
  • Provides recommendations for the acquisition/development or enhancement of tools, equipment, systems, and applications necessary to support the business in an efficient and quality manner
  • Is the business owner for assigned applications, products, services, and/or IT queue(s), responsible for managing the intake process and for working with business stakeholders to set enterprise priorities for requests in the queue
  • Manages the overall scoping, planning, and setting of corporate strategies for the delivery of services to customers from idea inception to ongoing support, enhancement, and maintenance
  • Coordinates the efforts of all departments involved in the product life cycle to ensure product components are delivered in a quality and timely manner
  • Provides day-to-day coordination of business, technology, and marketing issues and deliverables affecting products and services within the life-cycle process, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery
  • Ensures MedImpact's offerings for assigned applications, products, or services align to industry standards and offerings
  • Accountable for compliance with federal, state and CMS regulations/guidance, as appropriate
  • Provides subject matter expertise and issue management for assigned applications, products, or services via written communication, discussions, and presentations with internal partners, and with existing and prospective clients
  • Coordinates efforts with marketing staff. Responsible for giving formal and informal program and project updates to various levels of management
  • Manages projects, project plans, budgets, and timelines in a structured, disciplined manner
  • Coordinates and arranges for recruitment or assignment of project personnel, including SMEs, and other tangible & intangible resources necessary to complete analyses, define scope, create the project plan, and execute project deliverables
  • Directs and orchestrates the activities of project personnel and establishes regular meeting schedules with project teams
  • Establishes appropriate communication plan, providing regular and timely reports of status, at-risk deliverables, potential scope creep, unanticipated changes in requirements, unintended consequences, and cost overruns to leadership and stakeholders
  • Accountable for ensuring all components of the project/initiative are successfully completed on schedule, within budget, and meet operational readiness criteria
  • Leads and promotes continuous improvement by developing and documenting business processes, assigning roles and responsibilities, and measuring results
  • Identifies and leads the improvement opportunities for assigned work group(s) and business processes, and major enterprise and cross-functional improvement initiatives
  • Seeks out and actively participates in business initiatives that contribute to service excellence
  • Finds new ways to reduce the cost, improve efficiency, mitigate loss, and increase the profits
  • Implements budgets and long-term goals to ensure efficiency
  • Ensures the financial objectives set by the company are met
  • Manages department financial budgets
  • Assists with the negotiation and controls the pricing aspect of vendor contracts
  • Partners with other MedImpact business units to effectively resolve customer issues and inquiries, implement new business, design solutions that meet the mutual needs of MedImpact and our customers
  • Supports new product offerings and strategic sales & marketing efforts
  • Actively participates as a key member of cross functional workgroups, teams, and committees as assigned
  • Participates in industry standard bodies (e.g., NCPDP) and represent MedImpact and exert influence within the groups in support of MedImpact's strategic objectives
  • Responsible for all related strategic vendor management including contracting from the business perspective, and monitoring vendor contract compliance
  • Defines metrics to effectively measure the success of assigned products, services, or applications

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Manages supervisory, exempt, and non-exempt technical employees
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • Develops staff to meet the current and future needs of the organization
  • Models and cultivates staff behaviors that achieve business success, including leadership skills, collaboration, accountability, and ownership
  • Ensures that staff members are aware of business plan objectives, individual accountabilities, and the competencies critical to successful job performance
  • Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws

Education and/or Experience

For consideration candidates will need:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) or equivalent; or at least five (5) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years operations experience in a PBM, healthcare environment, pharmacy, pharmaceutical, or electronic commerce environment strongly preferred
  • A minimum of three (3) years of management, supervisory, or enterprise level project leadership experience required
  • Experience leading exempt and non-exempt level employees preferred
  • At least three (3) years' experience as a Business Analyst, Process Improvement Analyst or Project Manager
  • Business process analysis methodology experience required
  • Experienced in application of process mapping and workflow simplification techniques
  • Exposure to Six Sigma or other statistically based process improvement methodology helpful

Computer Skills

Strong proficiency with MS Office / Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project, Visio, and Outlook to create complex documents, manage schedules, and analyze data. Working knowledge of key business application such as SQL coding, Oracle forms, Golden 32, MedAccess, MedOptimize, SalesForce, and UNIX operating systems preferred.

Travel

This position requires travel of up to 20% of the time. Attendance may also be required at various local conferences and meetings.
