Job Description

The primary duties of the Car Care Manager are to:

  • Effectively hire staff and schedule associates to meet changing business needs.
  • Review necessary repairs with customers and associates and address questions or concerns.
  • Consistently monitor and assure high quality customer service is provided by associates on a daily basis.
  • Review and resolve problems or special requests and authorize special member services as necessary.
  • Develop external business relationships generating business for the Car Care facility and enhancing the AAA Club Alliance (ACA) image in the community.
  • Provide technical assistance to Car Care associates, as needed.

  • Establish partnerships with identified vendors to provide a complete array of products and services that benefit ACA.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports on the operations of the Car Care facility for review by management.
  • Identify and schedule seminars and schooling for technicians, service writers and other personnel, as needed to maintain a technically competent staff.
  • Evaluate staff performance and counsel associates, as needed, to ensure the overall quality of staff development/effectiveness and productivity.
  • Oversee scheduling of repairs and maintenance and continually review facility efficiency; implement necessary changes to ensure optimum efficiency.
  • Communicate and ensure consistent application of corporate policies, procedures and standards.
  • Act as "Health & Safety" Officer for location. Manage safety and shop compliance issues to ensure conformity with OSHA and local laws.
  • Keep current on EPA and environmental laws to remain compliant and advise the organization of changes that will directly affect operations and service in a timely manner.
  • Participate in community and national automotive organizations to solidify ACA's position within the automotive industry and our commitment to a cleaner environment.
  • Prepare income and expense budgets and ensure strict adherence to budgetary guidelines. Ensure that the facility meets annual revenue and net income budgets and achieves budgeted sales.
  • Maintain specific awareness of car care products and general awareness of AAA's products and services to provide exceptional member and client experiences in a manner that builds repeat business and generate sales.
  • Assist the CCIT Team to exceed Customer Satisfaction and Quality scores, while meeting established productivity goals
  • Perform all related duties as required.
  • Practices ACA Shared Values.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate Degree or equivalent.
  • 6-7+ years in the automotive industry. 3+ years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification as a "Master Automotive Technician" strongly preferred.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid operator's license; 5 years driving experience with an excellent record and the ability to operate both automatic and manual transmissions on passenger vehicles and light and medium duty trucks.
  • Ability to work autonomously managing a retail automotive services operation.
  • Ability to work with automotive diagnostic equipment and provide technical guidance to team.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and regional/corporate support departments.
  • Advanced knowledge and ability to work with PC-based (Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel) and automotive computer equipment and software applications.
  • Effective organizational and analytical skills.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively interaction with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to respond to customer inquiries and refer customers to the associates who can best assist them with Car Care, Travel, Insurance, Membership, Discounts, Financial Services, and other Retail products.
  • Ability to read and interpret financial data and reports.
  • Satisfactory pre-and post-employment screening results.
  • This job title is classified as "Safety Sensitive" in accordance with Connecticut and Oklahoma state law.
