Position Summary
The manager optimizes financial performance in the OC Locations and service lines by measuring and assessing ongoing operations relative to budget, the viability and upside potential of programmatic growth initiatives, and prioritized deployment of capital investment in the clinical enterprise.
The incumbent leverages technical and analytical capabilities, partners with operations leaders to evaluate performance, quantify opportunities, and recommend actions needed to improve performance.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Assesses the operational and financial performance of the OC's ongoing programs through the performance of periodic reviews focusing on process improvements, emerging risks in the market, changes in payor mix and resultant profitability, operating costs and wage changes to eliminate waste and maximize return on investment, ensuring the ongoing viability and performance of the OC location.
- Measures clinical capacity, utilization and efficiency, partners with operations and physician leaders to implement actions to drive improvement.
- Engages in and supports the annual budget process as well as the reforecasting process throughout the fiscal year. Embedded, close partnership with operations colleagues is critical for success.
- Quantifies and analyzes financial performance of service lines. Partners with clinical operations to establish a framework for measuring service line performance within a P&L framework.
- Leverages City of Hope's existing data and analytic structure, applications to drive automation and repeatability with minimal intervention.
- Drives accuracy, adoption and use of ActionOI within clinical enterprise.
- Develops analytical framework for measuring labor and non-labor efficiency in the clinical enterprise. Partner with operations to ensure cost structure, work force levels are appropriate given clinical volumes.
- Effectively manages the efforts and priorities of direct reports. Mentorship and professional development of staff is essential.
- BA Degree, Masters in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or similar is preferred.
- 3-5 years professional financial management experience including Financial Modeling, Reporting and Analysis.
- Advanced Excel, VBA programming, SQL and other programming languages are essential. Demonstrated excellence in leadership and mentorship.
Preferred education experience and skills:
- Finance experience in academic medical center or hospital finance preferred.
