The Compensation Manager will be responsible for implementing an updated compensation strategy for the entire organization with the support of the rest of the team; this will include re-pricing roles across the organization and leading the rollout of a job leveling framework. They will also be responsible for partnering with the Talent Acquisition team to bring on candidates at the appropriate compensation levels. As a compensation expert on the People team, you will be responsible for ensuring that our compensation practices as an organization align to our performance driven culture. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of the compensation discipline coupled with the ability to think outside the box and tailor creative compensation solutions to the needs of the business, recognizing that the best compensation solutions will vary from company to company. 

What you get to do every day

  • Lead the effort to re-build compensation ranges, including base salary, bonus and equity for all roles at Human Interest
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for our compensation consultants and other vendors
  • Build strong and trusting relationships with our key business leaders, and members of the People team, including the Talent Acquisition team
  • Monitor the compensation landscape on an ongoing basis to ensure that our pay ranges remain aligned to our compensation philosophy
  • Work with the People Business Partners and leaders in the business to successfully roll out a set of consistent job levels across the organization
  • Support the Director of Total Rewards on building new strategies for the Total Rewards function, providing input on a variety of programs including base salary strategy, company bonus objectives and our approach to equity compensation 
  • Align with the equity administration team to ensure that we have a consistent and timely equity grant process
  • Leverage the wealth of People data that we have available as an organization to help inform compensation related decisions
  • Act as a culture champion, keeping the Human Interest Way at the heart of our people programs

What you bring to the role

  • 10+ years of Compensation experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience 
  • Experience re-building a compensation strategy for a company from the ground up
  • Demonstrated ability to influence compensation decisions at the executive level
  • Experience partnering directly with a variety of roles across the People team 
  • Strong ability to think strategically and adapt approach depending on the audience 
  • Well developed communication and influencing skills, including facilitation of compensation programs and employee communications
  • Ability to lead through ambiguity and prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment 
  • Deep experience in handling complex compensation issues
  • Experience working in private and public software companies preferred

Compensation - The salary range target for the role seniority described in this job description is $140,000 - $170,000. Final offer amounts depend on multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise, geographic location, compensation/equity mix, and market data. This position may also be eligible for additional incentives such as equity awards, short-term incentives, or sales compensation.
