ABOUT THIS ROLE
The Manager, Compensation is an essential role at Apex, responsible for managing the compensation function, including equity. You'll leverage your strategic and hands-on compensation experience and knowledge to help us build and elevate our compensation programs for over 750 employees and growing across the org. Additionally, you'll bring vision and value to our organization and employees, in a rapidly growing environment and team. What you'll do all day:
  • Be a leader. Lead the compensation programs, including our equity operations. Serve as a thought partner and influencer for the Executive Leadership team.
  • Be a partner. Collaborate with Talent Acquisition and HR Business Partners on compensation matters including market pricing new and existing jobs.
  • Stay connected. Monitor the effectiveness of existing compensation practices and recommend changes that are cost-effective and consistent with compensation trends and corporate objectives.
  • Be a subject matter expert. Provide advice to the HR team and leadership on pay decisions, policy interpretations, and job evaluations.
  • Be creative. Design creative solutions to specific compensation-related programs and incentive plans.
  • Think with analytics in mind. Develop techniques for compiling, preparing, and presenting data.
  • Handle the day to day. Participate in salary surveys and monitor salary survey results to ensure we remain competitive, while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local compensation laws and regulations.

You'll gain loads of experience in this role but before you do, you should have:
  • 5+ years of experience in compensation functions, with preferred experience in executive compensation and equity planning.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience managing a team is preferred.
  • HRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) and certified compensation professional credentials preferred.
  • Experience working with compensation planning tools such as Radford Surveys, Workday, and Payfactors, and other tools like Google Looker and SecureSheet.
  • Knowledge of all federal, state and local regulations and compliance requirements related to employee compensation.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret and communicate complex data.
  • Previous experience working with senior executives is highly preferred
