Manager, Copyright Administration

Your primary mission is to handle timely processing and notification of BMG's publishing agreements. Additional responsibilities may include data updates (including, but not limited to song, royalty client and royalty rate data), Information Service/rights research, reporting and analysis. You will interact and communicate with external clients to assist in providing the highest level of service. You will collaborate with international colleagues from various departments to ensure our global strategy. Your approach to the task is creating solutions and solving problems.

What You'll Be Doing.

Deal Processing

  • Complete processing of BMG's US intellectual property agreements (e.g. new Publishing, Master, Modification, Extension, Option and Termination agreements as applicable). Including but not limited to:
  • Setup of clients, rates and agreement information in BMG's internal databases
  • Entry of song details.
  • Coordinating with Song Entry and/or Integration Team on requirements for song entry or catalogue ingestions.
  • Liaising and following up with Creative and Business Affairs as necessary on incomplete information.
  • Notification of rights to North American Performing/Mechanical rights societies, digital partners and BMG affiliate offices and sub-publishers.
  • Reconciliation of existing PRO registrations with schedules and songs claimed by BMG
  • Follow up with PRO's, Affiliates, Sub-publishers and other income sources to ensure completeness of BMG's claims.
  • Review/verification of data entered by other members of the deal processing team.
  • Feedback on setup and notification of agreements to Creative Dept/Business Affairs Dept and other deal stakeholders.

Data Maintenance & Cleanup

  • Handle data updates and cleanup (e.g. IP, client, rate data) with a focus on client and rate cleanup required resulting from client inquiries (e.g. via Royalty Services) or internally identified business needs.

Information Service

  • Review, research and provide timely responses to rights queries and information requests. Including, but not limited to those from:
  • BMG US business functions (e.g. Synch/Marketing, Business Affairs, Creative).
  • BMG writers and clients.
  • BMG sub-publishers and affiliates.
  • Business partners (e.g. Hal Leonard).
  • Performing/Mechanical rights societies.
  • 3rd party writers and publishers.

Customer/Client/Business Partner Relations

  • Assist in maintaining and developing the relationships with admin customers and partners. Including, but not limited to:
  • Writers/clients.
  • Performing rights organizations.
  • Co-publishers.
  • Industry organizations.

Miscellaneous

  • Engage in and handle other ongoing processes or ad-hoc projects as business needs dictate or as assigned by supervisor.
  • Supervision of temporary employees and interns as necessary.

Must Haves.

  • You have a basic understanding of music publishing and copyright industry practices.
  • You have familiarity with music publishing or other similar IP agreements, including royalty rate structures.
  • You are proficient with Microsoft Excel
  • You have a strong analytic and problem solving skills and the ability to identify when information is incomplete
  • Strong contract interpretation skills and experience

It's a plus (not a must) if you also have: a bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.

Pay Range

$50,00 - $55,000 per annum

The pay range listed above is dependent upon factors such as work experience, qualifications and business needs. In addition to the range above, this role is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus and applicable benefits.
