About The Role 

The Manager, Corporate Development will be primarily responsible for the planning and execution of initiatives to optimize the company’s future growth and profitability, with a keen eye towards opportunities that would best align with the company’s mission and values. This position will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and work with cross-functional peers.  

 This role will lead successful execution of initiatives including, but not limited to, the following: 

  • Joint-Ventures and Strategic Partnerships 
  • With the CFO, lead goop’s current U.S. and International joint venture projects 
  • Corporate Outreach 
  • Source and evaluate external opportunities related to M&A, strategic divestitures, spinoffs, strategic alliances, partnerships, and joint-ventures 
  • Evaluate global expansion opportunities including new market expansion, product development, and strategic partnership opportunities 
  • Support sourcing of financing for future business expansion, as needed 
  • Support execution of M&A transactions internally for smaller and private companies or brands  
  • Manage day-to-day relationships with outside advisors for transactional work, including investment banks, legal firms, transactional accountants, consultants, etc. 
  • Strategic Analysis, Competitive Benchmarking, and Business Financial Modeling 
  • Maintain a constant pulse on what our competition is doing; coordinate offensive and defensive strategies with departments to ensure Company viability  
  • Conduct buy vs. build analyses to seek solutions to current company deficiencies  
  • Perform Comparable Company financial modeling and analyses 
  • Perform Comparable Transactions / Precedent Transactions analyses 
  • Conduct sophisticated, multi-scenario financial and operational analyses (including ROI, IRR, NPV, Payback, merger modeling, pro-forma analysis) to support such endeavors 
  • Operational Excellence Benchmarking 
  • Monitor and benchmark goop’s business methods against those of other comparable companies through 1) identifying key operational metrics to track 2) conduct financials ratios and 3) implement a continuous process of measuring products, services and practices against those of competitors or “best-in-class” companies 
  • Work with cross-functional peers to identify areas for improvement, recommend product, process, and financial goals, conduct ROI, Payback and IRR analyses in conformity with best practices.

Qualifications & Experience 

  • Top candidates will have 3 or more years of specialized experience in finance, including 1 or more years’ experience in investment banking 
  • Experience with high-impact consumer brands, multi-channel revenue streams, and/or CPG manufacturing preferred 
  • Candidates with MBA, CFA or CPA credentials are a plus 
  • Exceptional financial analytics, modeling and benchmarking experience required 
  • Demonstrated success with strategic partnership-building preferred
