Job Description

Manager Data Analytics (RGG Services, Inc; Boston, Massachusetts): As the Manager of the Data Analytics team in Data Science, you will manage a team responsible for understanding the impact of various data science projects on Rue Gilt Groupe’s user behavior and core business. Analyze the impact of data science initiatives including personalization, product recommendations, visual search, inventory and fulfillment optimization, and price optimization. Work closely with the product management team, data scientists, and business stakeholders to analyze data science features and their value to Rue Gilt Groupe’s core business.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Organize and drive successful completion of data insight initiatives through effective management of analysts and effective collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of scrum team including removing impediments and facilitating technical discussions.
  • Hire talented data analysts to grow the team.
  • Implement and oversee analytical approaches and methodologies.
  • Oversee the data and analysis requests process including tracking requests submitted, prioritization, and approval.
  • Engage with business stakeholders and anticipate future demands of initiatives related to people, technology, budget and business within your department. Design and implement solutions to meet these needs.
  • Analyze and interpret statistical data to identify significant differences in relationships among sources of information. Develop and apply mathematical and statistical methods in scripting languages including SQL, R, Python, and Spark to process, analyze, interpret, and summarize data to provide insights of consumer behavior and business trends.
  • Design and administer A/B tests and other statistical methods to evaluate the performance and impact of data science projects. Set test goals, design customized test metrics, allocate test cohorts, and perform hypothesis tests. Perform data analysis to interpret test results and to identify opportunities for next iteration to further enhance the tested feature.
  • Analyze A/B test experiments and deliver insights to the team to take data driven decisions on the implementation. Extract data from large data warehouses and build interactive dashboards in Tableau and Excel to communicate analyses and answer business questions from key technical and non-technical business stakeholders.
  • Process and analyze structured and unstructured data to evaluate the validity and opportunity of new projects.
  • Use web analytic tools including Google Analytics and Snowflake database to analyze in-depth details about the website visitors.
  • Develop data testing and monitoring algorithms that efficiently identify incongruences and changes in data and reporting and communicate the data changes that impact stakeholders.
  • Refresh reports and dashboards regularly and when updates and new data become available using SQL and Python.
  • Serve as an administrator for the Tableau server and handle data from internal and external sources and secure the data.
  • Coordinate with data engineers and developers to troubleshoot data issues and ensure data storage accuracy, quality and prevent data loss.
  • Prepare and structure data warehouses for storing data.
  • Perform ad-hoc data analysis to interpret changes in customer behavior and business trends.
  • Apply mathematical and statistical methods to unlock insights in business data by defining key performance indicators (KPIs) and by using Tableau and Excel to build and maintain reporting architecture.

Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree in Digital Sciences, Statistics, Computer Science, or a closely related quantitative field of study and 2 years of experience as a data or business intelligence analyst processing and manipulating large datasets.

 (I) In depth background in SQL, Tableau and statistical languages including R and Python; (II) Track record analyzing the success of AB testing initiatives including: defining AB test KPIs, calculating traffic allocation required to achieve statistical significance, and effectively using traffic for various concurrent tests and doing the test setup; (III) Demonstrated experience driving proper AB analysis with statistical rigor and performing cohort studies to answer “why?” on test result drivers; (IV) Track record ideating more complex tests from an analytical and insightful reporting perspective; (V) In depth background writing detailed analysis plans and descriptions of analyses and findings; (VI) Expert level knowledge using R and Python to perform statistical analysis, sample size calculations, and estimate AB test durations; (VII) Demonstrated ability to work with cross functional stakeholders on requirement gathering, deep dive analysis, AB testing, and Tableau dashboard development; (VIII) Practical knowledge of Scrum; and (IX) Demonstrated excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and communication and presentation skills.
