Position Overview

Aclara' Utility Solutions Services group under Professional Services is responsible for network performance monitoring. Analyzing a large number of customers quickly in order to diagnosis potential issues and determine root cause of any network issues requires a secure, stable, and efficient means of ingesting, storing, processing data that is cost effective. The products used are available for both internal and external customers, requiring coordination of features and releases in line with both Aclara headend software and field devices to ensure both adequate data analysis and visibility to data. As Aclara's product lines are enhanced, the data analytics need to be aligned with industry best practices, software architecture, and company security policies.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and guide a team of data engineers and data scientists in delivering high quality solutions and services.
• Work closely with team to design a scalable, secure and efficient data architecture in Azure that supports data ingestion, storage, and processing needs.
• Lead and deliver high-performance, highly scalable, and flexible, cost-effective, cloud-based enterprise business data and analytics solutions.
• Lead and deliver System Watch tools for STAR, SRFN and TWACS product lines.
• Identify opportunities to innovate and leverage data-driven solutions to drive revenue-generating initiatives.
• Contribute to the development of the data analytics strategy and roadmap for the organization.
• Manage the development and maintenance of software tools and applications that support internal processes and enhance team productivity.
• Set clear goals and performance expectations for the team, aligned with organizational objectives.
• Collaborating closely with peers, leaders, and business partners across the organization.
• Work closely with other Architects in company and develop a strategy for data collection and processing.

Other job duties include aiding the team in the following functions:

• Design statistical and predictive computer models to analyze large data sets.
• Aggregate the digital data into digital dashboards for consumption by internal and external customers.
• Provide advanced visualization skills to explore and extract insights from structure and unstructured data sources.
• Contribute to developing long term plans for optimized creation of large distributed data sets.
• Utilize statistical, mathematical, and business information technology strategy skills to build customer dashboards.
• Perform large scale operations and build data driven apps to translate data into intelligence.
• Create advanced algorithms to generate insightful data for the design of new end-user reports.
• Communicate findings to team, managers, and senior leadership.
• Provide on-going tracking and monitoring of performance of decision systems and statistical models.
• Review latest tools and industry best practices to drive team in proper long-term direction.
• Design, develop and deploy Tableau dashboards to enable data-driven decision-making.
• Maintain Tableau server both on-premise solution and cloud solution.
• Utilization of Azure cloud platform with integration of Tableau server solution.
• Setup Azure pipelines to process data for Tableau reporting and visualization.
• Mine and engineer data from large and varied data sets (structured/unstructured).
• Design complex database procedures to improve ETL size and time requirements.

Skills and Experience

• 3+ years of managing data teams.
• 5+ hands-on industry experience working with relational database systems (i.e.: PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, etc.).
• 2+ years of experience in cloud design or development, preferably Azure.
• 2+ years ETL design and development experience.
• Working experience as part of distributed team.
• At least 3 years of experience with data presentation tools like Power BI or Tableau.
• At least 3 years of experience in advanced data analytics, math or statistical modeling, or machine learning (R, Python, SAS, MATLAB).
• At least 3 years of experience developing, delivering, and presenting complex statistical analysis and datasets to technical/nontechnical stakeholders and management, including senior management.
• At least 3 years of experience with using Hadoop/Spark to mine data from structured, unstructured data sources.

Education

Masters Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems
