The Manager, Data Platforms is responsible for managing a team of Data Platform Engineers that design, provision, and support all Quantum Health data platforms, both on-premises and in the cloud. Work will focus on maintaining the platforms' performance, functionality, and availability, while working with business partners to identify, plan, implement, and test data platforms and any applications that reside on top of those platforms. This person should have a thorough understanding of SQL and cloud-native database operations and best practices. They will lead efforts at Quantum Health to modernize our data platform infrastructure by aligning it with cloud-native technologies and microservices. The Manager, Data Platforms acts as an escalation point for all data platform issues. This person will work closely with other IT teams and should have a thorough understanding of database communication protocols, performance tuning, and maintenance tasks. This person must be able to be productive in a fast-paced environment and work with minimal supervision.

What you'll do

  • Collaborate with other IT teams to design, implement, and support application and database solutions.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends and new technologies that can or could support future business operations.
  • Manage the Data Platform team members, maintaining good team morale, creating and updating individual development plans, having 1 on 1 meetings and working with HR to handle disciplinary issues.
  • Perform support and maintenance on database platform solutions.
  • Create and maintain Data Platform environment documentation.
  • Manage Data Platform team scheduling, including after-hours support and on-call schedule. Act as an escalation point for after-hours and on-call issues.
  • All other duties as assigned.

What you'll bring

  • BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or related field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator or Architect.
  • 3+ years of experience managing database and data platform teams.
  • Experience administering large-enterprise SQL Server 2016+ database environments.
  • Strong understanding of relational database architecture concepts.
  • Designs and develops databases, data movement, data replication, views, stored procedures, SSIS and SSRS solutions.
  • SQL "Always On" experience is highly preferred.
  • Has administered SQL Servers in a virtual environment.
  • Prior experience supporting Microsoft .NET applications is plus.
  • Expertise in SSIS, SSRS, and SQL clustering.
  • Expertise in cloud-native database technologies such as Amazon RDS or Azure SQL.
  • Knowledge of cloud computing, including running SQL Server on Amazon EC2.
  • Knowledge of system and network monitoring tools such as Dynatrace or SolarWinds DPA.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact in a positive, respectful manner and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • Ability to effectively organize, prioritize, multi-task and manage time.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours.
  • Strong administrative/technical skills; Comfort working on a PC using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), IM/video conferencing (Teams & Zoom), and telephones efficiently.
  • Trustworthy and accountable behavior, capable of viewing and maintaining confidential information daily.
