The Finance Data Science and Analytics team (DS&A), which sits within Corporate Planning, is responsible for maximizing the returns of billions in investments across American Express. You would contribute to the success of our mission.

The mission for the Enterprise Investment Optimization team within DS&A is to enable business success by globalizing the Investment Optimization process and conducting actionable analysis. The team is responsible for providing analytical and consultative support for all card acquisition activity. The team provides information and insights to our international marketing and finance partners in order to influence investment decisions and maximize return on card acquisition related expenses for the proprietary markets.

The Manager will leverage data and develop new techniques to innovate around the way we forecast key measures within the Investment optimization process. The candidate will be using data mining techniques and programming languages to enhance & modernize our current processes. The team's goal is to help the organization make fact-based and scientifically developed decisions around the IO process.

This position will be part of a highly talented team with strong intellectual curiosity. Our team is excited about solving investment problems through analytics, data and technology.

Responsibilities

  • Closely collaborate with central and local finance & marketing teams to influence acquisition strategies while ensuring investment funds are optimized
  • Identifying, developing, and standardizing enhancements to the card member behaviors used to calculate card member values in the investment optimization process
  • Develop predictive modeling that incorporates behaviors and increased level of data granularity
  • Use machine learning techniques to improve forecasts and produce business insights; leverage visualization and reporting tools
  • Support implementation of streamlined processes to expand on current data availability in the areas of acquisition performance and investments
  • Understand and adopt emerging technology that can affect the application of the quantitative analytical approaches and technique

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Hands-on experience managing/leading projects using large amounts of data and application of advanced predictive analytics
  • Proficiency in SQL, SAS, Python, R, Machine Learning Techniques
  • Understanding of financial planning and key revenue drivers
  • Tableau or other visualization tools experience is strongly preferred
  • Masters in a quantitative field - Applied Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science preferred
  • Candidates will be expected to go through a technical interview of programming proficiency as well as demonstrate appropriate business and data aptitude
  • 3+ years of experience in SAS or Apache Spark / PySpark programming including data step programming and complex macro development is required

United States Only:

Salary Range: $90,000.00 to $165,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
