Job Description

Job Summary

The Manager Desktop Engineering is responsible for managing and maintaining the various servers, endpoints, devices, and user interfaces used by employees and clients. This includes the overarching responsibility of requirement analysis, system design, documentation, and release management, as well as the responsibility for support standards and overall application performance and integrity. The position plays a central role in the overall success of Exeter's IT Operations

Job Duties

• Executes a proactive approach to device engineering and patch management for servers and workstations, expanding upon existing methodologies, processes, and tools to deliver quality results while continuing to develop, mentor staff, and drive continuous initiatives.
• Manages the design, configuration, deployment, and maintenance of these devices while ensuring they are up to date with the latest security patches and updates.
• Collaborates with the Information Security team to understand the latest threat landscape and incorporate vulnerability data into the patch management process.
• Partner with application owners and vendors to address and resolve potential patch-related issues.
• Design and architect IT device standards and configurations, considering performance, security, and user requirements.
• Evaluate and select hardware and software solutions for desktops, laptops, and mobile devices.
• Develop and leverage industry standard reporting metrics through usage of KPI's, SLA's and OLA's to evaluate performance optimization
• Create Compliance and Supporting Documentation to ensure compliance with IT policies, industry regulations, and best practices related to IT device engineering and patch management.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and Work Experience

• College Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related field of study.
• Six to eight (6-8+) years of equivalent work experience.
• Proven experience in workstation and endpoint engineering, deployment, and support.
• Strong knowledge of Windows and/or macOS operating systems.
• Familiarity with endpoint management tools, such as SCCM, Intune, JAMF, and Ivanti.
• Understanding of endpoint security practices and technologies.
• Experience with desktop virtualization and remote desktop technologies is a plus.
• Knowledge of scripting and automation tools for software deployment is advantageous.
• Industry certifications such as Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator or Red Hat Certified Engineer are beneficial.
• Industry certifications like CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or relevant vendor-specific certifications are a plus.
• One (1+) years of management experience in IT Operations or Auto Finance preferred.
• Proven ability to manage in a matrix environment and partner with business area representatives in leading and supporting delivery activities.
• Understanding of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) best practices.
• Interpersonal skills necessary to lead, coach, mentor and coordinate others to accomplish goals
