ROLE TITLE: Manager, Development and Regional Team Initiatives

POSITION REPORTS TO:  Jill Baldemor

LOCATION: Hawai‘i Required, Hawai‘i Island Preferred

WHAT YOU’LL DO

About 50% of this role will focus on supporting the development team to cultivate new and existing donors and ensure the Hawai‘i region is supported by a strong base of support. About 50% of this role support will contribute to working towards our collective 2030 vision in Hawai‘i, amplifying Teach For America Hawai‘i’s story and supporting our regional program. The ideal candidate is a team player who is willing to contribute to the collective team’s vision, able to work across multiple workstreams, and has strong operational and systems skills.

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

  • Development (50%) – Work in partnership with MD, Development and Director, Development on Hawai‘i Island to support the Hawai‘i regional development team.

    • Hawai‘i Island: Identify new donor prospects and support outreach efforts to grow our network of support on Hawai‘i Island; support Hawai‘i Island events to engage stakeholders

    • Grant Writing: Support writing and tracking grant proposals and reports for corporations and foundation gifts

    • Individual Giving: Lead campaign to secure renewals and source new gifts from individual donors $1 - $5K 

    • Events: Support event operations and logistics for O‘ahu annual fundraiser

    • Development Operations: Consistently maintain donor, prospect, and fundraising activity information in our customer relationship management system 

  • External Network (20%) -  Contribute to the overall external network team which is charged with strengthening our overall brand health and sustaining strong partnerships. Provide dedicated capacity to our communications and storytelling work via social media and earned media platforms. 

  • Corps Member Program (20%) – Contribute to our regional team efforts to customize our regional program for training and developing teacher leaders. May include supporting program systems and operations for summer training and school year.

  • Regional Team (10%) – all Hawai‘i team members contribute time to cross-team projects and all staff expectations, including selection of corps member or ignite fellows, and facilitating and engaging in all staff gatherings and learning experiences

A WEEK IN THE LIFE

Over the course of any week, the Director, Development & Regional Team Initiatives will spend time across a variety of workstreams. Each day will look different. Some days, you may spend researching new donor prospects and working with your team to strategize the approach for a new prospect meetings; other days you may be developing and amplifying social media content; other days, you might be working on operations and logistics - developing the guest list, run of show, collateral - for an upcoming event.

YOUR EXPERIENCE

Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role (minimum qualifications): 

  • At least 5 years of related work experience

  • Track record of meeting and exceeding ambitious goals while managing multiple projects simultaneously

  • Strong project management and operations skills

  • Strong writing skills 

  • Willingness to work occasional weekend or evening work hours 

  • Baseline knowledge of Hawai‘i histories, culture, and context

Work Demands

  • Occasional weekend or evening work hours required 

  • Occasional travel to/from O‘ahu and Hawai‘i Island required

You will be part of two teams within Teach For America. The Hawai‘I team works collaboratively as a team, and in partnership with our students, families, and community, to advance systems change in Hawai‘I. We are deeply grounded in place and embrace the values of kuleana, ‘ohana, and aloha as we do our work. The Revenue and Development team at Teach For America inspires donors and champions to contribute to shaping the future of our country by investing in Teach For America’s work with students regionally and nationally. We aim to source investments that fuel our work and impact and this role will be an essential part of the Field Fundraising arm of the Revenue and Development team.


YOUR COMPENSATION

The applicable salary range for each U.S.-based role is based on where the employee works and is aligned to one of 3 tiers according to a cost of labor index in that geographic area. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role. The expected salary ranges for this role are set forth below. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Tier B: $66,800-$89,400
