Manager, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

As the Manager, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion you have a passion for creating an equitable, inclusive workplace while establishing a culture that supports team members' sense of belonging such that team members can be their authentic self. You will partner closely with Executive Leadership to embed DEI into the organization's culture, overall brand, mission, vision, and values. You will take a lead strategic role within AArete's DEI Center of Excellence and will actively participate with internal and external networks to stay on top of emerging trends and best practices.

With this being a highly visible role, to be successful, we will be looking for an entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to excellence. The ability to thrive in a team environment, but also have the ability to work independently.

Work you'll do

  • Develop comprehensive strategies focusing on employee, marketplace, and community initiatives to enhance AArete's performance and competitiveness.
  • Monitor and achieve quarterly and annual key performance indicators for our multi-year DEI goals.
  • Partner with the talent team to craft dynamic recruiting strategies, building pipelines and hiring talent from underrepresented backgrounds.
  • Provide leadership, coaching and oversight to Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), business leaders, scaling inclusion and diversity initiatives across the organization.
  • Oversee the creation and implementation of an inclusive education roadmap incorporating DEI modules into existing trainings programs.
  • Collaborate with the HR talent development organization to incorporate DEI awareness and skills development and training.
  • Establish external relationships with peer DEI practitioners, representing AArete's inclusion & diversity programs in internal and external forums.
  • Work in partnership with external organizations in the DEI space to develop strategic partnerships, understand best practices and test/learn from others to advance the company's strategic commitment and recognition.
  • Partner with HR, department heads, and stakeholders to offer technical assistance, advice, and consultation on cross-cultural conflicts and policies.
  • Oversee the AArete DEI Council providing support, guidance, and execution of the overall DEI goals.
  • Collaborate with HR to refine diversity tracking methods, enabling the identification of challenges, establishing goals, and monitoring progress.
  • Play a key role in pinpointing areas of concentration and devising actionable plans to address them.
  • Provide consultation to enhance our organizational climate, ensuring an inclusive, forward-thinking culture that embraces risk-taking and effectively leverages various dimensions of diversity.
  • Conduct research to create metrics for assessing the impact of implemented diversity initiatives and deliver quarterly reports to senior management on their effectiveness.
  • Supervise external partnerships, affiliations, and networking endeavors. Lead outreach efforts with diversity-focused organizations and support Affinity Groups by partnering with team members to devise strategies for their advancement.
  • Evaluate existing policies, procedures, and practices to ensure they align with the DEI vision and mission.
  • Remain up-to-date on the latest trends and best practices in DEI.

Requirements

  • 8+ years leading strategy and initiatives with a focus on diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Sociology, Human Resources or equivalent related experience
  • Must be local to Chicago IL and working in office 3-4 times a week
  • Self-starter with high self-motivation and encouragement toward others
  • Exceptional independent judgement
  • Creative and innovative leader
  • Experience establishing and maintaining relationships with individuals at all levels
  • Superior presentation skills - written and verbal
  • Change management understanding and experience a plus
  • Strong Project/Process management; Balance and prioritize competing responsibilities
  • Ability to identify and implement effective and efficient models of working
  • Intermediary or Advanced skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Cultural flexibility/adaptability
  • Ability to motivate and inspire
