Salary Range

$115,400 - $196,100
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

What Your Job Will Be Like

Organization 3010, Inclusion, Diversity, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) & Affirmative Action (AA), is currently seeking a Manager of EEO/AA and Diversity Inclusion to join their team!
The selected candidate will oversee and manage members of the workforce within the department, act as an integral role in the development, implementation, and administration of the Diversity and EEO/AA programs and initiatives, and serve as a professional advisor regarding diversity measures and affirmative action procedures.
The successful candidate will fully demonstrate all of Sandia's behaviors and will energize a team to perform at the highest levels. They must have highly effective communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to motivate employees, build trusting relationships, manage personnel issues, and resolve conflicts. A broad understanding of Sandia's business/mission and a solid background in civil rights law, diversity, inclusion, and the Human Resources field is also desired.
This position reports directly to the Chief Diversity Officer (Senior Manager of Inclusion, Diversity, EEO & AA).
On any given day, one may be called upon to:
  • Develop and recommend policies and procedures to implement the equal employment opportunity/affirmative action program
  • Stay informed regarding developments in the areas of equal employment opportunity, affirmative action, inclusion, belonging, accessibility, and diversity
  • Interpret equal employment opportunity requirements of Federal and State agencies; evaluate these requirements in relation to specific Sandia programs and recommend corrective or remedial action as needed
  • Develop and manage the implementation and assessment of Sandia's Affirmative Action and Diversity Strategic Plans
  • Advise and support departmental personnel in diversity, accessibility, inclusion, equal employment opportunity, nondiscrimination, and affirmative action matters
  • Advise employees and management on government legislation, U.S. Department of Energy contract compliance, and Sandia National Laboratories' policies and procedures to maintain compliance
  • Lead subordinate employee recruitment, selection, training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition and disciplinary actions
  • Ensure that customer needs are satisfied; manage and coordinate specific deliverables, overall program and project plans, budgets, structures, schedules, and staffing requirements
  • Balance the acquisition and development of staff resources, capabilities, and existing and future projects or programs
  • Provide guidance and interpretation of policies and programs concerning human resources
  • Create and implement updated policies and procedures
  • Ensure proper communication to employees and other organizations on the implementation of human resources policies, procedures, and practices
  • Respond to the needs of the business will collaborate with the Senior Manager in developing both long-term and short-term diversity strategies


Qualifications We Require

  • A Bachelor's degree plus 8 years relevant experience; or equivalent experience and/or achievements that demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the job
  • At least 4 years professional, personnel, or management experience involving significant responsibilities and accomplishments in diversity, inclusion, accessibility, and belonging, as well as affirmative action and equal employment opportunity programs that included investigating complaints of discrimination, retaliation, or workplace harassment
  • Experience in interactions with all levels of management on highly sensitive topics
  • Experience with data analysis (gathering, inspecting, interpreting, and reporting data; verifying and drawing conclusions from the data provided)
  • The ability to acquire and maintain a DOE L-level security clearance


Qualifications We Desire

  • A Juris Doctorate and/or Master's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources, or a related field
  • At least 4 years demonstrated leadership experience
  • Diversity, Leadership, Coaching, or Human Resources certifications (e.g. SPHR, PHR)
  • Thorough knowledge of federal and state laws pertaining to EEO/AA and disability discrimination issues
  • Experience investigating discrimination complaints and managing institutional responses to them
  • Data analysis experience, specifically dealing with Diversity, Affirmative Action, and Equal Employment Opportunities
  • Proven success with maintaining an extremely high level of confidentiality when handling sensitive (OUO, PII, Classified, KTN) information regarding EEO, AA, Diversity, etc.
  • The ability to prioritize multiple high priority projects and balance thoroughness with quick turnaround and decisions
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and customer service skills
  • Experience interacting with DOE or other government agencies
  • The ability to model behaviors that reflect equity, inclusion, belonging, allyship, and Sandia's core values

Security Clearance

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
