Responsible for conducting, tracking, and leading investigations end to end, including: conducting intake and witness interviews; assessing credibility and using judgment and discretion to determine the witnesses to be interviewed; gathering and analyzing relevant documents and emails; identifying and assessing potential policy violations or legal issues; making factual findings and drawing conclusions utilizing their legal background, knowledge of law and policy, experience and professional judgment; preparing investigation updates, summaries and related documentation; making recommendations on next steps and appropriate actions; preparing clear and comprehensive written reports as requested that analyze and assess key issues; and when appropriate making credibility determinations and recommendations.

I. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Reasonable accommodations will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.• Conduct investigations in response to a range of employee relations concerns, including harassment, discrimination, retaliation, leave of absence, disability accommodations, compensation and other violations of rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.• Communicate with stakeholders regularly regarding pending investigations and provide timely investigation reports with supporting documentation for all completed investigations.• Serve as a subject matter expert on a broad range of ER issues that could be subject to investigation, including HR policies and practices and relevant state and federal employment laws.• Partner with Legal team and Ethics & Compliance team in conducting investigations and HR leaders to provide counsel and facilitate prompt and effective resolution of workplace concerns.• Partner with the E&C and internal counsel for HR related matters as needed, act as back up for triaging cases.• Provide consistent coaching, expertise and consultation to employees and managers in areas of behavior modification, conflict resolution and disciplinary issues (including termination) in accordance with the values, policies and procedures of the Company.• Coach supervisors on how to handle and document poor performance, including PIPs, disciplinary actions and assist in the separation process.• Facilitate resolution of disputes, employee issues, and concerns with front line managers.• Work collaboratively with HR functions to ensure consistent application and interpretation of FMLA, ADA, and diversity policies and strategies.• Utilizes employee relations data to proactively identify trends, opportunities, challenges, and solutions to help drive operational and organizational excellence.• Develop, implement and present to HRBP team and other leadership training initiatives related to emerging trends.• Collaborate with leaders and functional departments to facilitate manager development opportunities and training in the areas of performance management, conflict resolution, team member engagement, relevant employment laws, and respectful workplace.• Advises and provides support for talent and performance management initiatives.• Partner with the HR Compliance to create and update HR policies and procedures that pertain to employee relations; assist with training on compliance with policies and procedures.• Support and provide strategies for a Culture of Speaking Up at Emergent.• Provides leadership and team support for legal proceedings applicable to HR (EEO, DOL, etc.)• Maintains a working knowledge of industry trends and federal and state employment legislation.

III. MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS• Bachelor's Degree and/or minimum 5-7 years' experience in employee relations, workplace investigations, employment law, and disciplinary actions.• Strong functional knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws including but not limited to Title VII, ADA, FMLA, and ADEA.• Strong organizational and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail• Ability to gather, analyze, and synthesize information and data from multiple sources and summarize investigative findings.• Ability to handle confidential information in a highly professional manner and escalate issues when appropriate.• Demonstrated ability and courage to strategically put DEI principles into practice, including but not limited to, cultural humility, equity, empathy, and systemic change, even when it means challenging systems, processes, or deeply held beliefs.• Experience partnering and influencing leaders and employees and establish strong cross-functional relationships at all levels and geographies.
