Job Summary:
DENSO is looking for an Engineering Manager in the Athens, TN facility. This individual will be responsible for managing engineering on the overall start-up of ECU, specifically Ford Zonal, at DMAT. Position may occasionally include domestic or international travel as well as some overtime. Occasional weekend or holiday work may be necessary at times.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Provides Day to day administration and management of department staffing and output.
- Responsible for short term 1-3 years, and long term, 3-7 years long term planning and target setting.
- Develops departmental goals and objectives that align and support division and organization.
- Responsible for setting and managing departmental budgets, both expense and capital.
- Responsible for and maintains departmental policies.
- Facilitates and attends meetings and prepares reports as necessary.
- Relates and communicates well both verbally and written within all levels of the organization as well as with customers, and suppliers. Maintains good attendance and assumes the appropriate role (s) when working in a team environment. Responds appropriately to unexpected and / or continuing situations which develop in the work environment.
- Includes mentoring and developing their staff for the following items:
- Creation of specifications and process designs for new equipment, appropriate sourcing, deliberation of funds, ordering, installing, and confirmation of equipment for current and new products. This may include conducting feasibility studies, developing process control specifications, preparing or modifying equipment and tools, examining the implemented process and its capability, and confirming product quality.
- Development of processes for new products, based on design specifications and engineering changes, to detect and solve problems prior to the beginning of mass production.
- Preparation and presentation of design and procurement review material.
- Analyzing data from new product trials, and improvement plans.
- Responds appropriately to unexpected and / or continuing situations which develop in the work environment.
- Ensure DMAT cleanroom start-up adherence to electronics manufacturing (ESD, IPS cert, etc)
- Ensure PE resources are aligned to completed Installation, Set-up/Process Window, and Qualification of zonal equipment in preparation for completion of customer samples on or before required due dates.
- Ensure related documentation preparation (PFMEA/PCSaNEXUS)
- Ensure all engineering resources are planning test runs with PRD/QA/PM, ensuring test parts and all other resources are procured and ready. Leading engineers to create and share summary of all test runs.
- Leading of daily team meetings to ensure activity alignment with all departments.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of Production Engineering policies, procedures, and terms.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and good presentation skills.
- Ability to lead, align, and monitor a high level of activity as demonstrated under a variety of conditions and constraints.
- Ability to comprehend, issue, and execute complex instructions and respond effectively while gaining desired results. Has excellent problem-solving ability and high attention to detail.
- Must have a very high level of ownership for the output and results for the managed associates and business unit.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial) or a related field, or combination of education and relevant work experience
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong verbal & written communication skills
- 2 - 4 years' experience in Electronics manufacturing and/or Final Assembly is strongly preferred

- Capable of developing and coaching team members to further support both personal and organizational growth.
- Capable of leading and supporting divisional and campus wide projects
- Possesses excellent time management skills and capable of managing multiple engineers and projects concurrently while obtaining optimal results.
- Relates well with others, including as appropriate with, peers, production associates and production CoC, engineering CoC, upper management, customers, and suppliers. Maintains good attendance and assumes the appropriate role (s) when working in a team environment.
Salary Range:
- $100,800-$125,900
