As an Engineering Manager for the AI Framework team, you will build and oversee the team that is creating GitLab’s AI Framework. You will be collaborating with stakeholders across the organization, on all levels, and connecting the dots with departments like legal, marketing, infrastructure, AI-assisted, and other engineering teams.Â
You will be integral in unifying and executing our unified architectural strategy for AI, Supporting the launch and evolution of our AI-driven projects like GitLab Duo, and providing production support for solutions like Code Suggestions.

- Build, mentor, grow, and lead a team of engineering professionals
- Drive the technical roadmap in collaboration with multiple stakeholders
- Identify project risks, dependencies, and resources needed across complex initiatives
- Use data to make decisions and influence your own team and stakeholders
What you’ll bringÂ
- Exceptional collaboration and communication skills
- The ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical people
- Experience with navigating complex projects that have a business-wide impact
- The ability to oversee multiple projects touching multiple teams in a data-driven environment
- Experience with AI / ML work is preferred.
About the team
The AI Framework team is responsible for enabling all product groups at GitLab to provide AI features and functionality. They are doing this by providing AI frameworks and abstractions that connect models (from either our AI Assist team or from 3rd party providers) to a separate service in a reliable and performant way. Part of that abstraction exists within our Ruby on Rails codebase, where the team is also responsible for harnessing unique GitLab data in order to improve prompts.
This team works on the productionized support of AI features at GitLab, creating standardization and documentation to support our AI efforts and collaboration with numerous groups and departments within and outside of engineering.
