About the Role:

In the Remittance Transaction Engine team, we are at the heart of all Remittance Transactions. We own some of the most critical services. We are both simplifying our current architecture and building for new products, at the core of multiple company-level goals.

As the Engineering Manager for Remittance Transaction Engine, you will report to the Director of Engineering. You will understand our Remittance transaction flow and recommend improvements that improve our scale, decrease effort to integrate new products, and improve operations. You are a partner who creates a welcoming team culture across the company. You will manage a team while growing the careers of team members and shaping the engineering culture of Remitly as a whole.

You Will:

  • Define direction, leading complex, long-term, cross-team engineering efforts.
  • Develop strong cross-functional partnerships
  • Set team level yearly and quarterly objectives that ladder up to multiple company-level goals.
  • Hold a high bar for quality and have a high level of technical judgment.
  • Make tradeoffs between multiple goals and maintain legacy systems while making progress towards new technology.
  • Be a role model in upholding Remitly's cultural values and use them as a framework to mentor other engineers across the company to achieve their full potential.
  • You will help set and hire against a high engineering talent bar for the team.

You Have:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of overall software development experience including leading the development of reliable, available, and scalable distributed systems (preferably using a Microservices architecture).
  • 5+ years of experience leading technical teams.
  • Experience leading critical systems.
  • Experience driving and building long-term technical strategy across multiple engineering teams.
  • Experience leading multi-quarter complex engineering projects with several engineers and working in partnership with Product Managers.
  • Experience mentoring engineers up to the Senior Engineer level.

Compensation Details. The starting base salary range for this position is typically $194,000 - 242,000. In the U.S., Remitly employees are shareholders in our Company and equity is part of our total compensation plan.
