Manager, Federal Government Affairs - Corporate Affairs (Economist)

**This role can be based in Bentonville, AR or Washington, DC. Remote in other other locations will not be considered**
What you'll do:
In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with a team of experienced inter-disciplinary experts to help Walmart navigate the policy landscape. You will provide quantitative support for Walmart's Global Public Policy and Government Affairs team through economic and data analysis. The ideal candidate will work well at the intersection of economics, empirical research, and policy. Candidate should be a strong communicator, collaborator, and someone who has experience in a client-facing role in a fast-paced business setting. Candidate should be adept at storytelling through data analysis and visualization, synthesizing existing evidence, and conducting original analyses. Candidate must be comfortable translating and presenting technical work to a broader audience through impactful graphics, briefs, and PowerPoint presentations. A track record of successfully solving real-world economic, quantitative, and business problems is required. Experience working in economic consulting is preferred.
You'll make an impact by:
- Supporting empirical research on Walmart's impacts across various stakeholders. This includes compiling existing evidence into cohesive and credible narratives as well as conducting original analyses.
- Preparing timely updates on macroeconomic trends and impacts/risks to Walmart to facilitate decision making related to policy, advocacy, and communications.
- Collaborating effectively across teams with different skillsets and translating technical work to non-technical audiences.
You'll sweep us off our feet if
- You have a master's degree or PhD in Economics or related field, an MPP, or an MBA.
- You have experience working at the intersection of economic consulting, empirical research, and policy.
- You have experience in econometrics and statistics, as well as working with business intelligence tools and scripting languages (e.g., SQL, Python, R, Tableau).
- You have experience working with large proprietary datasets and extracting insights to tell a story.
- You have experience collecting and reporting on macroeconomic data published regularly by government agencies.
- You have outstanding verbal and written communication skills and enjoy building relationships and collaborating across teams.
- You are detail oriented and have an eye for spotting trends and inconsistencies in data.
- You are a self-starter, take initiative, can drive multiple initiatives at once, and have a proven track record of delivering results in a fast-paced entrepreneurial setting.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Economics, Mathematics, Data Science, Public Policy, Business, or related field and 3 years of experience in a client-facing analytics role OR 5 years of experience in a client-facing analytics role.
Work Experience:
- 3-5 years in solving business and policy problems with data and using theoretical and empirical research skills in Economics.
- 3-5 years in Economic Consulting, Policy, or similar analytical client-facing role.
