The Team

Lead the Country Finance team in providing financial support to the Country Manager and the Mattel Action Team (MAT), to deliver the Plan profitability through commercial planning and business support.

The Opportunity

Title: Manager, Finance

Reports to: Director, Finance

Main responsibilities:

• Provide guidance and support to MAT and Country Manager to ensure achievement of the full Financial Plan
• Full PL and Working Capital Management
• Manage opportunities focusing on accelerating the business and improve profitability
• Provide primary support to the Sales departments within each country:
  • Budgeting and Tracking Actual Customer trading terms (DFI & Sales adjustment) and influence effectiveness of spends, PEX requests whilst also providing ongoing financial support to country manager and Mattel Action Team
  • Overview / liaison of the accounts receivables & manage Credit risk / with customers with a view to optimize cash flow
• Business Planning & Inventory Management – participate in monthly Consensus Meetings to support achievement of sales targets, Margin as well as managing inventory to Plan; and ensure proper focus on selling excess inventories.
• Planning / Forecasting – Prepare annual Financial Plan, and quarterly Forecast updates as required by Europe / El Segundo and share it with MAT
• Monthly and Quarterly closing activities.
• Zero based budgeting. Supporting the country lead with the zero-based budgeting (ZBB) process to ensure compliance with the plan submitted
• Monthly Management Reports and updates versus Plan / Forecast
• To fully understand SG&A within the specific country of leadership
• Support Internal and External Audits

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

• Understanding European strategies and plans
• Excellent implementation (efficiency, on time, on budget, on quality)
• Maintain collaborate relations with Europe and local teams
• Participate in Regional projects
• Commercially oriented, with ability to be flexible and creative in supporting the business, while managing risk and control issues
• Ability to motivate staff and a team to take accountability for their areas of responsibility, and achieve challenging deadlines.
• Ability to multi-task, dealing with frequent and changing deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills; ability to liaise with people at all levels across the business
• Commercial understanding of a consumer goods company
• Affinity towards understanding and re-designing processes
• Results oriented; ability to apply sound commercial reasoning and logical thinking
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong system skills (MS Access/Excel – manipulate complex/raw data)
• An independent, proactive individual who can manage deadline and take quick decisions in a very fast paced, demanding environment

Educational background:

• Degree educated or equivalent in Finance or Business related discipline

Professional experience

• Preferably 5 years plus of commercial finance experience.
• Experience in Toys, FMCG or licensed consumer goods would be advantageous.
• International experience and consumer products/retail industry experience is advantageous
