OUR DESIRED OUTCOMES:

The Manager Finance will direct staff, oversee the day to day financial operations of Kinexus Group and its subsidiaries, and oversee a wide variety of activities within the department. They will have a strong attention to detail while working on projects such as cash management and receipts, monthly financial statement closes, and financial reporting. The Manager Finance will also assist with payroll and related tax filings, invoicing and reporting to various funds and grantors, accounts payable and disbursements, inventory control, and internal and external fiscal monitoring and audits.  

WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU:

The Manager Finance will have strong analytical skills and a keen attention to detail.  They will work to plan, organize, and manage personnel, ensuring integrity of the financial data. He or she will oversee the data entry into the accounting system and prepare quarterly reports.  The Manager will be a key member on the review team for periodic state and federal monitoring and annual financial audits, assist in the preparation of financial statements and coordination of paperwork support as requested by external auditors, monitors or other grantor/donor agencies.   In addition, the Manager will serve as Kinexus Group’s School Business Manager in regard to our Educational Service Provider agreement and will manage the school’s educational budget to provide quality education with the financial resources available.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities for Kinexus Group

  • Oversee day to day financial activities for Kinexus Group and its subsidiaries.  Such as financial reporting and ensuring compliance.
  • Ensure Kinexus Group and the subsidiaries financial practices adhere to relevant laws and regulations, preventing legal issues and potential penalties.
  • Analyzes financial data, identifies trends and offers insights that will guide strategic planning.
  • Internal controls:  works closely with the Controller and CFO to maintain effective internal control to prevent fraud, errors and mismanagement of financial resources.
  • Oversees a team of finance professionals - provides guidance, sets goals, assigns tasks and ensures that the team operates effectively and efficiently.
  • Responsible for cash management functions including review of the organization’s financial position
  • Supervises and participates in monthly and annual closing of the accounting books, maintaining checklist of monthly closing process to ensure timely completion.
  • Works with staff to ensure timely and accurate processing of payables, deposits and invoicing
  • Key member in periodic state and federal monitoring as well as annual financial audit
  • Works closely with the CFO and internal operations team in the development, implementation and maintenance of a sound financial management system
  • Manages and maintains KG and Subsidiaries’ accounting internal controls processes in coordination with the Controller
  • Maintains payroll system including code creation, custom calculations and G/L maintenance
  • Works with appropriate team members to ensure fund allocation compliance is followed.
  • Produces monthly cost allocation reports, to be approved by Controller
  • Ensures Kinexus Group Corporate compliance with payroll procedures
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

School Business Responsibilities

  • Oversees the financial operations of the school system.
  • Prepares reports for the School Leader and the Board of Education.
  • Collaborates with the School Leader to prepare the annual budget for the district; presents budget to key stakeholders at regular budget hearings.
  • Works with Director of Policy to ensure district compliance with applicable financial regulations.
  • Assists with long-range planning for future capital expenditures and projects such as school expansion, construction, and renovation.
  • Prepares financial reports and documentation required to receive state and federal funding.

Supervision

  • Accountant and A/P Clerk 

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field required;
  • Minimum five years’ experience in accounting or related field.  Administrative experience required, school management highly preferred.
  • Experience with fund accounting, financial reporting, government contracts, and the annual audit process
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and summarize complex financial data
  • Ability to delegate responsibilities based on the knowledge of the skills and abilities of direct reports.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy; preference for organization and effective planning.
  • Capability to provide well written reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Capacity to analyze business information, processes and requirements and identify potential impact.
  • Ability to drive projects and initiatives through to completion.
  • Proficiency in accounting software.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s degree in accounting, business administration, public administration or related field
  • CPA certification
  • Certified Management Accountant 
  • Experience in a leadership, preferably in a nonprofit organization with multiple funding streams
