Manager - Financial Accounting Outsourcing Technology Summary:

RSM's Center for Advanced Tax Technology ("CATT") is one of the fastest growing tax practice groups at RSM. The CATT team is focused on enhancing RSM US and global ability to deliver comprehensive, value-added, and efficient Tax products and services to our clients. It is a dynamic team with professionals of varying backgrounds from tax functional, tax technical, technology development, and project management. The team consults and executes on a wide range of initiatives involving process and tool development and implementation including training development, engagement management, tool design, and implementation.

The CATT Manager (Financial Accounting Outsourcing Technology) is responsible for enabling the efficiency and productivity of tax professionals by managing the execution of the financial accounting outsourcing service in the Center for Advanced Tax Technology team, as outlined below. The CATT Manager also acts as a tax and accounting process and technology subject matter expert and business lead for a variety of tax internal initiatives. To execute their area of responsibility, the CATT Manager leverages CATT staff, partners, and tax project managers, as well as coordinates closely with resources from IT, other functional areas, FAO practice, and RSM field offices.

Manage assigned CATT area(s):

• Assess tax business goals of the financial accounting outsourcing (FAO) service with CATT and FAO leadership. Leverage knowledge of the firm and team's capabilities to effectively meet tax professional and firm needs
• Hold self and team members accountable for success
• Assess situations quickly and precisely to determine priorities, focus areas and issues requiring escalation
• Serve as a role model by maintaining and deepening functional expertise and personal brand
• Product management, process development, and deployment activities:
• Build expertise on all aspects of assigned products and processes, in depth understanding of user experience and needs
• Serve as internal product manager for the financial accounting outsourcing service, including all related functions, processes, and technologies
• Manage the technology roadmap for the financial accounting outsourcing service, including identifying technology opportunities, researching new software, and supporting all aspects of implementation
• Manage system configurations and administration; plan for upgrades and enhancements
• Establish and manage relationships with Tax line of business leaders and subject matter experts
• Gather and document functional requirements for enhancements to existing tools/processes or implementation of new tools/processes
• Develop and maintain end-user documentation including user guides, knowledge documents, and training materials
• Manage deployment efforts for the financial accounting outsourcing service as it relates to client base utilizing QuickBooks and other software vendors used to support the service
• Partner with users and national tax stakeholders on ongoing adoption efforts
• Participate in testing and support activities, as needed
• Manage the ongoing support model for the financial accounting outsourcing service

Leadership:

• Complete Career Advisor duties including regular feedback, coaching, goal setting and training with assigned advisees
• Actively share knowledge and provide stretch assignments to grow overall expertise within the CATT team
• Mentoring of CATT Senior Associates and other stakeholders
• Build and leverage internal and external networks
• Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree - required (preference given to Business or Technology major)
• Minimum 5 years relevant work experience required (for example; tax technical, tax office operations, public accounting)
• Prior public accounting experience with a mid to large size firm(s) or other professional services experience required
• Strong communication skills for differing audiences and situations
• Genuine interest and strong aptitude for understanding and use of technology; strong experience in MS Office suite
• Ability to assess, enhance and document business processes

Preferred qualifications:

• Prior management experience working within a national tax role in tax software, processes, or both preferred
• Prior experience with financial accounting related processes and software, such as Quickbooks, Sage Intacct, Bill.com, and Tallie
• Business analysis training and experience
• Knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC) processes and best practices including software distribution
• Strong interpersonal skills and a pro-active approach to finding solutions to issues and managing priorities
• Self-motivated approach to follow up on job assignments and focus area duties
• Ability to work and lead efficiently with remote team members
