Job Description

Your Team

Responsible for managing the Company's development activities of multifamily residential, mixed-use, retail, entertainment, and other real estate investments, servicing and working with internal customers (i.e. Senior management, Portfolio Manager, Development Team, Accounting, FP&A etc.) with reporting, financial analysis, and performing other duties as assigned.

Your Key Deliverables

Business Planning and Forecasting

  • Consolidating budgets and provide overall management company analysis on cash and income estimates.
  • On a monthly basis provide updated cash and income forecasts and analysis to leadership
  • Manage the overall analysis of fees and expenses of the management company to ensure accuracy and compliance. Work with FP&A to ensure fees and reimbursements are appropriately budgeted and work with accounting to ensure they are billed. Compile, analyze and report on a regular basis to senior leadership the performance of the management company.
  • Work with Accounting, FP&A and Region/Department Leads to analyze and project region and department level budgets
  • Perform monthly variance analysis and concisely communicate to leadership variances to previous month and to annual business plan
  • Assist with preparing and presenting the results of our analysis in a clear and concise manner.
Operational Functions and Reporting

  • Review and analyze the performance of the management company.
  • Analyze and report to Department leads on a monthly basis region and department level budgets. Understand go-forward budgets based on actuals, comparing to previous projections.
  • Prepare operating dashboard, performance reports and other presentations to senior leadership.
Finance Functions

  • Work on a regular basis with accounting to discuss/manage project related accounting/finance issues.
  • Assist FP&A team with other analysis, when needed, which includes but not limited to updating proformas, providing actual costs to the teams on our development projects, performing variance analysis for Corporate and/or the Asset owner, ad hoc analysis.
  • Ability to navigate a development proforma and understand how fees and Overhead are calculated.
  • Support the Project Cost Admin team with regular report and budget management as needed
  • Works with Director, Financial Analysis to support Analysis Group's larger goals including practices and procedures and analysis tools, monthly meetings and strategic initiatives
  • Work with Director on any Special Projects and all process enhancement projects as assigned.
As Applicable

  • Develop, coach and lead a development reporting analyst when applicable

Must Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office with advanced Excel capabilities.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in finance and/or real estate industry. Experience within a real estate/market research department for multi-family residential, retail, office and other commercial real estate is ideal.
  • Management experience is a plus
  • Must adapt well to change and demonstrate the ability to develop and implement process/system improvements.
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced environment with a positive approach
  • High sense of urgency and ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and be able to prioritize in a fast-paced environment with a positive approach and strong attention to detail.
  • Must be data oriented and have proven ability to interpret and synthesize data, making recommendations to drive business decisions.
  • Critical thinker; exceptional analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Must be collaborative and able to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge/Experience in PMWeb, Newstar, Vena, and/or Power BI, is a plus
