Manager, Financial Contract Reporting - Royalties (Japan)

About the role 

• Manages FCR Japan operations and team in the Japan office 
• Work with counterparts globally to ensure alignment of Royalty processes and tracking of Financial components affecting reporting and payouts (Revenue, P&A costs, Advances shortfalls).
• Ensures that we deliver contractual obligations statements to stakeholders for IP invested by our company in an accurate manner by managing timelines, clarifying the terms of agreements written in Japanese and English, building contractual calculations for co-production and other types of licensing in and out agreements.
• Prepare all financial statements by reviewing of several aspects such as gross calculations, royalty calculations, taxes, window fees, order of recoupment, deal/committee structure setup, payment due, payments applied per participant, and any other contractual terms specified in executed deals.
• Review the royalty statements provided by the US parent entity and work with related departments to ensure accuracy, communication of risks, changes and request corresponding approval (from producers, legal, VP of Finance, other teams) and translate in both Japanese and English
• Contribute to process improvements to set up a functional team in Japan that can scale, manage manual volume in the interim process and ensure full SOX and internal control compliance.
• Participate in new TRR (deal management and royalties) system implementation, coordinating efforts, completing user testing, and collaborating on any related additional task, including recommendations to ensure that the Japan setup is functional to ensure full automation of statement processing and full deal and data analysis and reporting.
• Work with VP to implement new technologies and develop corresponding reporting to organize and track projects progress and capture important metrics

About You:

• 5+ years of experience in accounting or a related field with exposure to third-party participation, royalty reporting, and licensing models.
• Experience leading a team of 3+ people
• Experience with international deal reporting and analysis in a large corporate setting
• Review and interpret legal agreements
• Proficiency to analyze large quantities of data, resolve discrepancies, and drive to deliver data-driven answers
• Willingness to be hands-on, learn and mentor others and lead efficient process transformation efforts.
• Familiarity with large-scale ERP and Royalties systems
• Native to Business-level Japanese and English skills (reading, writing, and speaking)
• Entertainment or SaaS industry experience
• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics
• CPA or MBA degree
