The Manager, Gas Supply for Ameren Missouri is responsible for all operational management of natural gas supply including purchase of the gas commodity, transportation to the Ameren Missouri gas distribution system, daily operations, and regulatory analysis & material preparation for the MPSC and FERC.
Key responsibilities include:• Manage and provide daily direction to a team consisting of two professionals ensuring adequacy of gas supply activities. Management of a PGA gas supply budget of approximately $50 million. • Communicate with all levels of the organization and external stakeholders; including executive steering committee, complimentary departments such as Market Risk and Back-office, as well as industry contacts. • Ensure compliance to all Ameren governing risk policies, participation in internal audits, and related activities. • Recommend procurement strategies, plans, and studies for the procurement of gas supply, pipeline capacity, and storage capacity. This includes market, weather, and demand studies. • Negotiate, procure, and administer gas supply pipeline and storage capacity agreements. • Create natural gas price hedging strategies and implement hedging (physical & financial) instruments to achieve a balanced portfolio. • Participate in utility and pipeline rate cases, including preparation of testimony and testifying at state and federal hearings. • Document the annual Missouri LDC gas supply plan, and prepare data request responses for the annual ACA audit of purchase gas costs, and related dockets. • Facilitate development opportunities for direct reports, allowing them to grow and be engaged in their roles. • Serve as advocate for Ameren's safety initiatives.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required. Master's degree is preferred. Five or more combined years of relevant experience in combined natural gas markets, utility operations, or regulatory activities is required. Three or more years of supervisory and project leadership preferred. Experience in gas system engineering, and utility financial analytics is preferred.
In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:
Demonstrated ability to lead professional teams required. Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with regulatory staffs, gas pipeline & supplier representatives and internal office staffs required. Strong business sense and demonstrated ability to communicate required. Experience in natural gas system planning, gas control operations and utility financial analytics is preferred.
