A Brief Overview
As a key member of Stanford Health Care Marketing Communication team, this role requires an experienced designer who will be responsible for leading efforts to creative solutions that effectively and visually communicate the strategic objective/intent to print ads, collateral and other printed marketing materials. He / she will have overall responsibility for all production work completed by the design team and for providing the strategic direction to the department in advancing the organization to its potential. Additionally, may have responsibility for growing and mentoring others on the design team as strong contributors to a high performing MarCom team.
What you will do
- Develops or acquires images used in a variety of creative projects (ads, brochures, corporate identity, packaging, presentations, promotional displays, signage, websites, etc.) and oversees the design, layout and formatting of these materials.
- Helps shape strategies to take the SHC story across all mediums-print, 2D, 3D, consumer, B2B, photography and campaign work.
- Provides business leadership, process management and fiscal responsibility to the greater MarCom team.
- May oversee members of the design team including performance review and monitoring succession planning.
- Partners with client groups and vendors; create process and strategies that ensure creative excellence. Develop creativity that connects with the intended audience: consumer and/or referring physician which results in a consistent visual identity and message.
- Manages relationships with outside print vendors and photographers, including evalution and fostering new vendor relationships.
- Negotiates consistently high-quality results under tight deadlines. while maintaining the engagement of contractors/vendors.
- Responsible for the financial management of the production cycle including: estimates, budgeting, and resource allocation for each project for the design department as a cost center.
- Develops and presents creative designs to BDDs and SHC Senior Leadership.
Education Qualifications
- Bachelors degree or equivalent in graphic arts, communications or a related field from an accredited college or university.
Experience Qualifications
- Three to five years of graphic design experience. Studio experience preferred.
- Two years of management or supervisory experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Thorough understanding of design, processes including industry best practices as well as keeping current with color, typography, illustration, and phtography trends.
- Must possess a strong sense of concept development, in addition to communication, collaboration, research, problem-solving and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite is required.
- Exceptional presentation/speaking skills including presentation of creative concepts and selling direction to senior level clients.
