Manager, Hardware Reliability

About the role:

The Reliability Engineering team is responsible for implementing and executing comprehensive reliability strategies/plans that span the entire product development lifecycle from concept to warranty repair. Reliability engineering aggregates and analyzes test, field performance, and manufacturing data to drive actions internally and with our suppliers to ensure that we are building the highest quality product. Cross-functional collaboration with hardware, firmware, and operations is an essential part of the role.

In this role, you will: 

• Reliability strategy and planning: Define and execute reliability strategies and plans for our hardware products, from concept to warranty repair
• Reliability analysis and resolution: Analyze test, field performance, and manufacturing data to identify and resolve reliability issues
• Reliability design and delivery: Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and operations teams to design and deliver reliable and high-quality products
• Reliability team management and growth: Manage, mentor, and grow a team of reliability engineers
• Reliability improvement and innovation: Drive continuous improvement and innovation in reliability engineering practices and processes
• Reliability customer experience: Work cross-functionally with partners in Hardware/Firmware Engineering, Operations, and Support to ensure our customers have a best-in-class product experience
• Reliability modeling, testing, and validation: Design in reliability through the product development process and own product reliability modeling, testing, and validation
• Reliability requirements and targets: Set reliability requirements and allocate reliability targets to subsystems
• Reliability corrective actions and feedback loops: Identify opportunities for corrective actions and continuous improvement; create feedback loops to continuously improve the products in the field and the next generation

Minimum requirements for the role:

• BS/MS in Engineering, Material Science, Physics, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in reliability engineering, preferably in hardware or IoT products
• Experience in leading and managing engineering teams
• Strong knowledge of reliability engineering practices, methods, and tools
• Experience with stress testing; fatigue testing, vibration, and shock testing, electrical stress, and environmental stress.
• Understanding of the physics of failure and the application of stresses to underlying failure mechanisms
• Experience implementing Design for Reliability (DfR) practices
• Experience with hardware reliability tests, third party test oversight, and test execution
• Self-motivated, proactive, creative and critical problem-solving capabilities
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management skills
• A passion for customer satisfaction and product reliability
