About Our Team
The HSO Cyber Security and IT Organization supports the Field Intelligence Element and other High Security missions by delivering capabilities around information system hardening/accreditation, vulnerability assessment, risk management and forensics with a particular focus on mitigating cyber threats. The Cyber Security staff, consisting of Information Systems Security Managers (ISSMs), Information System Security Engineers (ISSEs), Information Systems Security Officers (ISSOs), and Alternate ISSOs (AISSOs), provide technical solutions to customers in support of missions on behalf of DOE, DOD and the Intelligence Community.

Security Clearance
Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance and SCI access, both of which require US citizenship. What Your Job Will Be Like
We are seeking a Manager for the High Security Operations (HSO) Cyber Security Operations department to oversee and manage a team developing and delivering a range of information assurance and cyber security monitoring services and capabilities across multiple customers including DOE, DoD, and the Intelligence Community.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
- Focus on delivering capabilities around information system hardening/accreditation, vulnerability assessment, risk management and forensics with a particular focus on mitigating cyber threats while providing efficient and timely service to customers.
- Prioritize conflicting governmental standards and advise SNL management or government accrediting authorities on a risk-based path forward that meets SNL mission needs.
- Manage with excellence in an environment with rapidly changing priorities and requirements.
- Keep people energized and projects well-managed and on track.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with peer managers in the Field Intelligence Element and across High Security Operations, mission customers across numerous programs, oversight personnel at DOE, Sandia partners and internal and external suppliers.
- Support staff career development and training objectives.
Qualifications We Require
- Bachelor's degree in information systems/assurance, cyber security, information technology, computer science/engineering or related field, plus eight (8) years of relevant experience;
- or other undergraduate degree and a minimum of 16 years of relevant/exempt-level experience (in lieu of technical degree).
- or Master's degree In the above fields plus four (4) year's relevant experience
- Two or more years of experience in leading/managing teams, projects, or programs
- Experience supporting national security systems
- Active DOE Q or DOD TS security clearance and ability to obtain SCI access which may require a polygraph.
Qualifications We Desire
Ideally, we would like to see your background include some of the following:
- Experience managing a Cyber or IT Service organization
- Experience working in cybersecurity threat space
- Experience mentoring and growing staff with a focus on career development
- Experience working with Federal Government Agencies such as, DOE, DoD, and the Intelligence Community
- Experience collaborating with multiple customer communities represented across the Laboratory
- Expertise in one or more of the following:
- configuration management
- information system accreditations (NIST 800, RMF)
- vulnerability assessments
- Experience applying cyber security standards, directives, guidance, and policies to an architectural framework.
- Experience providing recommendations to senior leadership and external contacts within government agencies.
- Cyber Security and Project Mgt certifications (e.g. CISSP, CEH, CISM, PMP, etc.).
