Manager, HSSE

General Description:

The Manager of Health, Safety, and Security will be based at our Plaquemines, LA location.  This position will provide leadership and strategic direction for the safety agenda within the site and drive the development and improvement of Health, Safety, and Security processes, systems, and culture.  This position is a key member of the site team providing leadership, support, and advice to the management on all HSSE issues. The position may require temporary Houston office assignments.

Responsibilities:

1. Implement the VGLNG safety strategy that is aligned to both the Headquarters business strategy and the company safety strategy.
2. Ensure that the site safety strategy is translated into operational actions plans, in conjunction with the operations and line management, which also supports the achievement of the group safety strategies and vision.
3. In conjunction with HR and operational management implement the safety knowledge, skills, and behaviors of the organization through coaching, mentoring, apprenticeship and other accepted processes.
4. Support the development and improvement of Health, Safety, and Security operational standards by identifying and adopting best practices.
5. Develop/Review Health, Safety, and Security policies and procedures as required.
6. Ensure sufficient processes and resources are in place to identify and manage business risks in all safety areas.
7. Ensure compliance with the standards defined by relevant legal, regulatory, and internal/industry safety bodies.
8. Provide support and guidance to operations and line management on incident investigations and the closure of the corrective actions identified, particularly for major incidents.
9. Manage and lead the Site Emergency Response function and ERT members.
10. Monitor, audit, and prepare reports to support compliance with procedures, policies, or other requirements driven by Federal, state and local regulatory agencies.
11. Drive the VGLNG Behavioral Based Safety (BBS) program through training, mentorship, and example.
12. Manage the VGLNG HSSE Management software at the site level including, Incident Reporting, BBS, Job Safety Analysis, Permit to Work, etc.
13. Develop and steward the annual budget for the facility.
14. Oversee internal audits as well as audits conducted by external agencies, lenders, clients, etc.
15. Work with the greater HSSE&T team on business initiatives for the betterment of Venture Global’s safety culture.

 Qualifications:

1. Education and Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, CSP, CIH, or equivalent.
2. Experience: 10 years of experience in HSSE management including emergency response functions, and investigation. LNG facility experience preferred.
3. Incident investigation certification (TOP-SET, TAPROOT, 5 Y’s, etc.)
4. Must maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card in good standing status.

Skills:

1. Strong leadership and management skills when dealing with facility teams.
2. Strong delegation and team management skills required.
3. Must be able to multi-task and handle parallel deadlines. Must be able to prioritize company and department goals to deliver projects on time and within parameters set by the organization.

1. Effective communicator at all levels of an organization with individuals and groups from different disciplines, industries, and governmental agencies.
2. Broad based policy knowledge of industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
3. Organized and able to manage multiple projects.
4. Proficient Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Advanced Excel (Pivot tables, etc.), and PowerPoint.
