The Manager, Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Engagement (IDE&E) Programs reports to the VP Human Resources IDE&E and plays an integral role in driving the execution and implementation of our IDE&E strategy to achieve our 2030+ goals. In this role you will focus on forging strong partnerships and collaborating with key stakeholders within the HR Centers of Excellence (i.e. Talent Management, Learning & Development, Total Rewards, and Talent Acquisition) to design and deliver talent programs integrated with BD's strategy to attract, develop, and retain an inclusive and diverse workforce. This work includes researching best practices and trends to recommend and develop programs and initiatives that contribute to advancing Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity (ID&E) across the organization.

The successful candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of and experience with core inclusion, diversity, and equity concepts, and the ability to develop collaborative relationships with various stakeholders to co-create content and align on solutions. Key responsibilities will include:
  • Actively contributes to the design, implementation, and advancement of BD's IDE&E strategy, including the organization's strategic plan regarding equity, inclusion, and diversity. Provides leadership and consultation at all levels of the organization to overcome barriers and identify and implement policies and practices that solidify BD as an employer of choice.
  • Manage company-wide efforts to ensure that IDE&E programs/processes/initiatives are developed pragmatically with a data-driven focus and are integrated into our broader HR strategy. Use current IDE&E research, best practices, and internal and external benchmarking data to provide thought leadership to key stakeholders by highlighting strengths as well as actionable areas of opportunity in an effort to further foster inclusion and increase the equitable hiring, promotion and retention of underrepresented talent.
  • Partners with Learning and Development to embed ID&E into the delivery of high-quality training throughout the employee lifecycle-- building awareness, fostering inclusion, and mitigating bias. Provide thought leadership in determining the best cadence, resources, and vendors for implementation.
  • Partners with Talent Management to embed ID&E best practices related to talent management processes and tools to increase the mobility of underrepresented talent within the enterprise in support of our strategic business objectives.


About you: To be successful in this role, you require:
  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five years' experience leading and developing Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity programs and strategic initiatives such as learning & development programs, mentoring & sponsorship programs, and accountability systems. Previous experience serving as an HR Partner/Generalist or HR Change management role preferred.
  • A minimum of two years' experience translating business strategies and data insights into critical talent and workforce initiatives. Experience building and implementing programming with an organization in the initial stages of ID&E work preferred. Must be intellectually curious, an independent thinker, and self-starter.
  • Intuition and ability to ask smart questions and connect the dots across various initiatives and teams. Ability to see the big picture, promote ideas persuasively to influence and shape opinions, and win buy-in for initiatives to ensure alignment and high-impact execution.
  • Experience effectively working across a global matrixed organization and managing a variety of stakeholders and audiences. Proven ability to build successful and effective relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization. Executive presence - demonstrated ability to work with high level leaders.
  • Strong commitment to excellence and a proven track record of thriving under tight deadlines and multi-tasking to prioritize projects and communicate priorities to stakeholders. Results oriented with an ability to implement and execute measurable results.
  • Ability to maintain discretion and appropriately manage confidential information.
