Job Description
Leads a team.
Has responsibility for benchmarking and target setting for delivery of
Key Performance Indicators and Global Process Performance Indicators in
assigned functional area.
PURPOSE:
The Manger, Lean drives the development and implementation of Lean methodologies delivering high impact change and targeted operational improvements at APM Terminals Los Angeles - Pier 400. The position leads and supports the sustainability of kaizen cycle initiatives that define new processes to eliminate waste and create efficiencies, while leveraging subject matter experts from the business. You are expected to successfully deliver objectives, including ways to collaborate more effectively and efficiently to drive synergies.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Be the local change manager for the Way of Working program elements.
- Positively coach, influence and actively manage leadership behavioral change according to the principles developed in the Way of Working program.
- Coordinate and drive the local implementation of the Way of Working elements, including Process Standardization, Operating System, Lean Academy and Improvement activities (Kaizens)
- Take ownership of local implementation activities using defined tools and methodologies where applicable and ensure ongoing coordination of local resources involved in cooperation with the terminal management.
- Facilitate Lean training, kaizen and problem-solving workshops.
- Mature the Operating System elements.
- Coordinate the data gathering and validation for the program KPI's.
- Provide timely reporting on program progress, issues and risks.
- Continuously review progress and risks according to plans and make necessary changes to action plans to ensure objectives are met.
CRITICAL QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- Necessary to perform the requirements of the position:
- Bachelor or higher degree preferable
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken
- Lean Six Sigma and/or Project Management certification is advantage.
- Good presentation and workshop facilitation skills
- At least 3-5 years of experience in lean training or a Continuous Improvement deployment role
- Experience with terminal operations is an advantage.
- Have the guts and abilities to challenge, mentor and coach senior leaders.
- Ability to drive implementation of new processes and support the organizational changes.
- Effective negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Results driven with a strong analytical and problem-solving skill set.
- Open minded, positive attitude and high drive to succeed and break through barriers.
- Ability to perceive situations from different perspectives.
- Clear, persuasive and collaborative communication & influencing skills.
- Experience with working in virtual project team and working with external consultants.
GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Coach and drive an environment that is supportive of learning, training and developing terminal Lean competencies. Must be able to convey criticism in a positive or constructive way.
- Should ensure business impacts and results are delivered through our Way of Working
- Encourage open dialogue and communication so that activities run consistently smoothly.
- Reinforce APM Group culture, values & reputation & ensure compliance with APM Group policies.
Job Type: Full Time
Salary: USD 95,000.00 - USD 120,000.00

The above stated pay range is the anticipated starting salary range for this position. The Company may adjust this range in light of prevailing market conditions and other factors such as location. The Company will work directly with the selected candidate(s) on the final starting salary in accordance with all applicable laws.
