Job Description
Summary: NISC is a software company that creates solutions to support our nation’s electric and communications infrastructure and service providers. Our current Manager will be retiring and NISC is actively recruiting a Manager to lead our well-established Learning Center team of 16 employees. Learning Center staff create and maintain all end-user NISC Solution training content, software release notes and information, and in app help systems with a focus on making sure Members are fully utilizing NISC’s solutions. Team responsibilities also include administering a Learning Management System and community platform, used by nearly 30,000 individuals. This is all done to support the NISC goal of providing fully integrated learning as a strategic part of our software products. The team also supports a variety of employee onboarding and learning needs, as well as critical leadership for both virtual and in person learning events, including the NISC user conference (MIC). This role would report to the VP of Product Management.
Essential Duties:
- Ensure that the leadership team is effectively and efficiently executing day to day operations.
- Develop, translate and execute short term department operational plans that stem from strategic initiatives to advance NISC’s learning offerings and Member product utilization.
- Assess and improve performance of the Learning Center team leaders.
- Effectively collaborate with other departments to ensure learning resources meet needs. Appropriately and effectively manage and allocate resources.
- Select team leaders and build the department through acting on optimizing and strengthening the business.
- Coach direct reports and ensure their personal and professional development.
- Create and maintain a culture of engagement and one that is conducive of NISC’s Statement of Shared Values.
- Serve as a resource and/or go to person in the functional area being overseen.
- Develop and utilize an enterprise awareness and approach in the style and method of conducting day to day business.
- Manage and oversee departmental budget.
- Proactively engage peer network to optimize cross departmental operations.
- Commitment to NISC’s Statement of Shared Values.
- Other duties as assigned.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proactively identify and lead the prioritization, development and implementation of learning, help, and release information content for 900+ Members who use NISC solutions as well as all NISC employees.
- Oversee the branding, design and delivery of videos, graphics, audio, software simulations, instructor-led courses and workshops, assessments, job aids, workbooks, and other learning materials.
- Promote learning and exhibit passion and dedication to ongoing improvement and development of resources and options to assist NISC Members in maximizing their use of NISC products.
- Research, evaluate and recommend innovative solutions to improve learning strategies, processes, systems and tools with increased effectiveness and/or efficiencies.
- Create a meaningful learning agenda, support learning best practices and help project manage NISC’s user conference (https://www.nisc-mic.coop/) of about 3000 attendees.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Preferred:
- 10+ years of leadership or supervisory role experience within area of discipline preferred.
- Experience in the Electric or Telecom/Broadband industry would be a plus.
- Familiarity with Leadership Pipeline principles preferred.
- Familiarity with Ken Blanchard’s Situational Leadership preferred.

Education Preferred:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a business-related field or equivalent experience.
