What is the opportunity?

RBC Avion Rewards, Canada’s largest bank-owned loyalty program, brings you more ways to shop, earn, save, and redeem every day. It drives deeper customer relationships and incremental purchase volumes for the RBC Card portfolio, incremental volumes and new customers to the merchant partners and enables customers to earn bonus points/cashback for their purchases with merchant partners.

The Manager, Loyalty Reward Design & Execution is a critical role which will integrate three functions of:

(1) pulling and analyzing data to support the RBC Loyalty Rewards effort

(2) working with business senior leader to design, execute, integrate and optimize direct marketing efforts for RBC Avion Rewards and,

(3) creating and providing customized reporting to provide insight into the relative success of RBC Avion Rewards campaigns, combing insight into marketing amplification, customer response rates to marketing efforts across channels, as well as incremental financial results.

What will you do?

  • Manage the data required for the business partners to meet their business and financial imperatives.

  • Leverage multiple data sources (Teradata, Enterprise Data Lake, AWS) and processing tools (Python, SQL, SAS) to execute on partners objectives.

  • Interact with senior business and marketing leadership to understand business and marketing objectives, in order to define and perform analysis to meet those objectives.

  • End-to-end responsibility for analysis including framing and negotiating analytical objectives with senior leaders, sourcing relevant data, performing in-depth analysis and presenting actionable insights to stakeholders in a timely and effective manner.

  • Applies available predictive models and segmentation techniques to improve performance.

  • Develops new methods and techniques to analyze a variety of marketing programs like acquisition, retention, cross-sell, TV, radio, always on, triggers, online and transformational initiatives.

  • Supports manager in planning analytics calendar and deliverables.

  • Ensures that best practices are implemented including proper time and project management, attention to detail, focus and excellent service to internal and external clients.

  • Ensures that all departmental and organizational guidelines, policies, procedures, values and behaviours are followed to meet business goals and to minimize operational, reputational and legal risk for initiatives.

  • Collaborates in a cross-functional and agile team environment to help develop marketing strategies and ensures appropriate measures of success are established and implemented to evaluate strategy performance.

  • Applies experimental design, test and learn methodologies and performs statistical analysis (significance tests, segmentation, regression, decision tree etc.) where needed to optimize strategies.

  • Interact with partners to understand, champion, challenge and specify business, design and technical requirement for marketing tactics.

  • Evolve and optimize campaign experimental design and build to ensure alignment to business and marketing objectives.

  • Act as COE on direct marketing tactics

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

  • 3+ years experience in a client facing analytical database marketing or related role.

  • Superior and proven experience in the application of experimental design and statistical analysis of results coupled with strong technical skills in (Python, Teradata, SQL, Hadoop, SAS, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Demonstrated proactive leadership in a cross functional environment.

  • Strong business acumen and strong analytical, communication and presentation skills

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to conceptualize strategy

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and work collaboratively through impact and influence in a cross functional environment.

  • Attention to detail, organization, ability to multitask and time management is critical.

Nice to have:

  • Experience in financial services and retail industries with broad understanding of marketing, product management, sales, finance, pricing and risk management is preferred.

  • Master’s degree in quantitative discipline preferred but not required.
