Manager, Market Research
Job Description
This role will primarily help to support the marketing, product, and sales teams across the Data, Research, and Enterprise Solutions business unit within Morningstar. Secondarily, this role will engage with other business units within Morningstar to discuss market research we have conducted, or could conduct, that may be helpful in their strategic efforts.
The Market Research team is relatively new to Morningstar, but is making great strides by supporting and developing thought leadership, product roadmaps, strategic direction, and future areas of investment. We plan to remain on a path of growth as demand for market research and insights continues to increase across Morningstar.
Job Responsibilities:
Specific responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinate and manage research project roadmaps by collaborating with internal stakeholders and external research vendors.
- Understand business questions/objectives that need to be addressed and recommend research methodologies that could be applied.
- Identify key research questions and approaches that support business goals.
- Work with business units to develop long-term market research strategies.
- Work with external research vendors to ensure methods and deliverables are in line with our expectations.
- Analyze data, synthesize findings, and develop actionable insights.
- Continually focus on answering the question "how do we apply the research results to the business unit's and Morningstar's strategy?".
- Ensure market research results are structured for the benefit of product, marketing, sales, and leadership teams.
- Coach internal stakeholders and teams on the different aspects and value of market research to enhance and become more efficient on future projects.
- Interpret and communicate insights to stakeholders and other teams within Morningstar to whom the results may be relevant.
- Work with the rest of the marketing team on opportunities to share research results externally, when appropriate.
Qualifications:
- Have a strong understanding of the market research process.
- Be familiar with many quantitative and qualitative methodological approaches and when to apply each.
- Ability to manage multiple projects across different teams at once.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience with Excel, SPSS, and/or other data analysis packages is desirable.
- Bachelors degree is required.
